The estimated base salary range for this role is "$88,000 to $100,000" per year.

The Value Stream Specialist is responsible for the design and implementation of raw material and manufacturing systems that enable continuous process improvement within designated plant Value Streams to achieve performance targets in the areas of Safety, Scrap, Quality, Downtime, Productivity and Cost Control. The incumbent will have the technical expertise to initiate and lead significant process improvement activities, including, but not limited to, changes involving raw material utilization, mechanical, electrical, chemical and human elements. The ideal candidate will have leadership abilities to assist the Value Stream Manager in acting as a catalyst and leader for significant organizational transformation.
Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, this position requires well-developed professional skills, business knowledge and an awareness of the manufacturing process. Assignments are of significant scope and complexity and frequently involve production machinery, processes, procedures, systems, and policies that have a significant impact on plant profitability. While driving changes, you will interact with Plant Supervisors, including Maintenance, Production, QA, Engineering and the Lab.

What will you do?- Utilize technical expertise and leadership skills to identify, initiate and implement significant process improvement activities in support of the assigned Value Stream Transformation.
- Drive improvements in operations through effective Downday planning and execution.
- Integrate maintenance work and production work including prioritizing the work and scheduling production activities.
- Coordinate Maintenance activities and improvement projects.
- Coordinate activities around major shutdowns and holiday periods.
- Countermeasure follow-up and completion of special cause investigations to production issues. Identify and correct product quality problems.
- Investigate problems and requirements of Fabrication projects; develop and evaluate reasonable alternatives by collecting and evaluating all necessary data. Help develop plans for solution of problem in light of economic or manufacturing requirements.
- Manage and improve Fabrication housekeeping using Lean 5S principles.
- Provide support to production in areas of manpower planning, production planning, raw material utilization, etc.
- Recommend solutions to value stream team on items to be included in annual capital and maintenance budgets and provides rough cost estimates on such items.
- Provide timely communications to Production, Engineering and Maintenance departments regarding production improvements and changes.
- Integrate operations with production planning; raw material flow, inventory, packaging, quality of material, GIP
- Coordinate new product development (NPD) activities in the operation
- Provide systems based experience and thinking to enable the operation to transform from a task-based culture to a systems-based culture using Lean principles as a guide.
- Ownership of operator training systems and execution
- Provide on shift technical support (4-crew rotating schedule)
- Cover occasionally for Supervisor and/or Value Stream Manager vacancies.
Required Qualifications and Skills:- High School Diploma plus 5+ years of manufacturing experience or bachelor9s degree in technical field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering), business, or related field.
- Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing or process improvement principles to enable organizational transformation.
- Proven ability to implement and audit systems to drive the utilization of technical and support systems to achieve manufacturing results.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
