Value Stream Manager

The ValueStream Manager leads and motivates multiple single-flow production lines toensure product quality, team member safety, and on-time delivery within the budget. They oversee all activities in theselines to drive results on key performance indicators and lead the ongoing development of the valuestream team by coaching and supporting their team to deliverresults. They will take full responsibility for the financial performance, safety, quality, and delivery performance and customer satisfaction results in their production area.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Accountable for maintaining the assigned Value Stream by meeting safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity goals.
  • Leads hourly workforce with extra focus on developing the new capabilities and competencies needed. Solicits and recognizes work teams' input in this area on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops actions plans surrounding Value Stream-related countermeasures and drives implementation.
  • Drives KPI metrics within the Value Stream by utilizing direct report resources. Collaborates with cross-functional departments to generate and prioritize projects in order to meet specified metrics.
  • Co-develops Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and is responsible for all departmental budgets.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of key data as required.
  • Evaluates performance gaps and implements proper countermeasures, using sound quality/lean facts and tools. Ensures the best integration of new products on the single-flow lines as each is introduced at the value stream level.
  • Responsible for and leads cost reduction initiatives in assigned work area. Encourages team member input and suggestions for improvement at all levels.
  • Ensures accurate inventory levels by supporting cycle counts and effective data management utilizing the Baan system.
  • Coordinates and assists Value Stream Manufacturing Engineers in assimilation of new products into manufacturing in a timely manner. Assigns and prioritizes improvement and quality-related projects.
  • Encourages and drives the development of a safety culture, lean, quality, 6S, and a continuous improvement mindset amongst all personnel in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Develops strong partnership with Supply Chain function to validate line activity and performance.
  • Leads and encourages a customer-centered approach, utilizing frequent feedback and data shared with teams to keep awareness levels at the highest levels.
  • Supports and enforces safety policies and training in compliance with company safety program and OSHA regulations to eliminate work-related injuries.
  • Manages staffing and budgetary requirements to ensure organizational effectiveness. Supports additional team resource (headcount) requests by data and current team performance. Supports the selection, integration and on-going placement of new and existing team members.
  • Recognizes team and individual accomplishments while fostering a work environment conducive to mutual respect for one another, encouraging the Ducommun Way.
  • Directly responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems as they arise.
  • Maintains time and attendance records, training program (Plan, Skills Matrix, Cross-training, and Employee Development) in Value Stream(s) for direct reports.
  • Serves as the liaison between the team and other departments to evaluate/troubleshoot and convey an identified team technical, productivity, safety, quality and/or disciplinary problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.


Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferably in Engineering, Technical or Business discipline required.
  • 2-4 years of value stream/operations management experience with a track record of building, developing, and evaluating teams.
  • 5 years' experience in a Lean focused process improvement role with advanced training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6s, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Lean / Six Sigma Certification a plus.
  • 5-10 years of aerospace manufacturing experience preferred, or progressive related manufacturing experience.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire, impact and innovate.
  • Ability to manage changing situations, tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels fostering a strong team environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to deal with people on a continuous basis under production schedule pressures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and others within the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as required.


Salary: $116,000-$132,000/year
