Position Summary
The Value Stream Manager is a key operational leader responsible for performance, profitability, and continuous improvement within a defined manufacturing value stream. In this highly visible role, you will ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while meeting customer expectations for quality and delivery. You will lead Lean initiatives, develop high-performing teams, and oversee the value stream's P&L performance above gross margin, ensuring alignment with plant and corporate goals.
What You'll Do
Operational Leadership & Performance
- Drive operational excellence across productivity, cost reduction, safety, scrap reduction, and compliance.
- Monitor daily production goals and throughput, challenging trends and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure equipment calibration, preventative maintenance, and system functionality. [
Financial & P&L Ownership
- Own the value stream's P\&L performance above gross margin, delivering on budget and margin improvement goals.
- Develop cost-reduction strategies and manage labor, overhead, and operational expenses.
- Provide accurate reporting, forecasting, and financial insights to leadership.
Lean & Continuous Improvement
- Champion Lean principles and lead initiatives such as value stream mapping, Kaizen events, SMED, 5S, and root cause analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement across quality, cost, delivery, and flow.
Safety & Quality Leadership
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a zero-incident culture through proactive risk identification and enforcement of safe work practices.
- Oversee non-conforming material handling and ensure timely quality escalation.
People Leadership & Development
- Develop staffing plans to meet production needs and delivery standards.
- Coach, mentor, and lead supervisors and frontline teams with accountability and performance management.
- Model "walk-the-talk" leadership and reinforce adherence to procedures and work instructions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and other teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Participate in problem-solving sessions, strategic projects, and CI initiatives.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical preferred), Operations Management, Business, or similar field.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within a Lean culture.
- Proven success managing P\&L performance, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
Leadership Competencies
- Strong team leadership skills with experience in coaching and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across functions.
- Ability to conduct critical conversations and drive accountability.
- Advanced problem-solving ability, including RCA and corrective action planning.
Technical Skills
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and safety standards.
- Strong Lean toolbox: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, waste elimination.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, production scheduling, material control, and Microsoft Office.
