Job Description
General/Position Summary
The Director of FP&A, Value Architecture leads development and management of the value case for AI transformationinitiatives, includingthe value hypothesis, financial model, KPIs, and measurement approach.The role partners with Digital, Technology and Engineering, Finance, Portfolio Strategy, functional leaders, and the CFO organization to ensure value cases are credible, operationally grounded, affordable, and measuredconsistently.This role provides the evidence base for portfolio-level value reporting and investment decisions, helping leaders understand value drivers, risks, opportunities, and business KPIs across the transformation portfolio.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Value Case Development
Define the value hypothesis, KPIs, and measurement approach for each initiative at initiation.
Develop and maintain consistent value architecture standards, assumptions, definitions, and methods.
Partner with functional leads and SMEs to ground value hypotheses in operational reality.
Planning, Forecasting, and Business Partnership
Connect initiative value cases to budget, forecast, and long-range planning processes.
Analyze trends, risks, opportunities, and business KPIs to improve decision making and forecast accuracy.
Develop analytics and reporting that communicate value drivers, affordability, and expected ROI.
Value Realization Tracking
Track projected versus realized value and maintain a clear portfolio view of value realization.
Reconcile realized value with original investment theses and identify areas on track, at risk, or requiring revision.
Provide evidence to Portfolio Strategy to inform sequencing, acceleration, and stop decisions.
Financial Partnership, Controls, and Governance
Partner with DTE on cost-to-run modeling and total cost of ownership.
Partner with Finance on affordability analysis and investment governance inputs.
Support close, accrual, and governance processes requiring documentation, control awareness, or SOX-compliant discipline.
Portfolio Value Coordination
Maintain an auditable record of value cases, KPIs, assumptions, and realization outcomes.
Provide the evidence base for portfolio-level value reporting and future investment decisions.
Direct and quality-control partner Value Architects embedded in delivery teams.
Partner with HR and business leaders on headcount reporting, forecasting, and planning where workforce assumptions affect value or affordability.
Required Education Level
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, strategy, or a related field required.
Advanced degree, such as an MBA or master's degree in economics or analytics, preferred.
Required Experience
Typically requires 10 or more years of experience in value management, strategic finance, consulting, or business analytics, or equivalent education and experience.
Experience building and tracking value cases for large-scale transformation or investment programs.
Experience with affordability modeling, cost-to-run, total cost of ownership, and cross-functional initiative coordination.
Pharmaceutical, biotech, or science-driven industry experience preferred.
People management or team leadership experience required.
Required Knowledge/Skills
Expertise in value case development, benefits realization, investment appraisal, and financial modeling.
Ability to define rigorous KPIs and measurement frameworks that are analytically sound and operationallypractical.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to challenge assumptions and identify flawed logic.
Excellent communication and data storytelling skills for senior and executive audiences.
Strong collaboration and influence skills with Finance, DTE, functional leaders, and portfolio stakeholders.
Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint required; knowledge of planning, BI, and visualization tools preferred.
Continuous improvement mindset and ability to adapt as priorities, governance, and reporting needs evolve.

Pay Range:
$180,700 - $271,100Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
