Full Job Description
Leidos is seeking a Program Manager to own visibility and coordination across a portfolio of transmission projects. The Program Manager will lead Project and Program integration efforts, synthesizing and streamlining PM processes to enhance delivery across the broader transmission generation program. Portfolio work includes transmission interconnection work (new switching stations, switchyard expansions, transmission line construction), network upgrades to accommodate additional generation, battery energy storage and numerous related projects driven by load growth and system expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Integrate schedules across all related transmission and substation projects to create a unified, program-level view.
  • Identify cross-project dependencies, funding-source conflicts, and schedule risks that individual project managers may not have visibility into.
  • Monitor program-level risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Drive coordination and alignment between multiple project teams and functional organizations (engineering, construction, regulatory, procurement, etc.).
  • Protect critical program milestones through proactive, cross-project coordination.
  • Escalate issues that threaten critical milestones, regulatory commitments, or overall program health to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level dashboards, status reports, and decision-support materials.
  • Ensure leadership has consistent visibility into overall program health, rather than a fragmented view built from isolated project statuses.
  • Routinely challenge project teams and push back on schedules where necessary, advocating for acceleration when critical milestones are at risk.
  • Facilitate difficult, cross-organizational conversations to resolve conflicts and keep the program on track.

Location: Candidates located in North Carolina or South Carolina will be preferred, but qualified candidates located elsewhere in the US will also be considered for remote work. Periodic travel to project sites in The Carolinas can be expected.

The estimated salary range for this postion is between 170 and 190k annually.

Candidate Qualifications

Required:
  • Completed Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of directly relevant work experience; Additional relevant experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated experience managing or integrating large, multi-project programs in utility environments
  • Previous experience working in the electric utility industry is required; Candidates must demonstrate a history of working with/around electric utility infrastructure projects in order to be considered
  • Solid baseline understanding of utility transmission and substation work - enough to evaluate project impacts, assess technical risk, and ask informed questions across disciplines
  • Strong working knowledge of schedule integration tools and techniques (e.g., Primavera P6) sufficient to manage dependencies across projects with differing funding sources and schedules.
  • Experience developing executive-level reporting, dashboards, and status communications for senior leadership audiences.

Personal Attributes that will help you succeed in this role:
  • Exceptional organizational skills - proven ability to manage, synthesize, and prioritize information across dozens of concurrent, interdependent projects.
  • Strong interpersonal presence and resilience - comfortable challenging project teams, pushing back on schedules, advocating for acceleration, and facilitating difficult conversations across organizational lines.

Preferred:
  • Prior experience supporting transmission interconnection programs tied to generation projects (gas, battery storage, or similar).
  • Familiarity with regulatory milestone requirements (e.g., RIS dates) in a utility context.
  • Experience working across projects with mixed or complex funding structure
