Full Job Description
Sol Systems is seeking a full-time Utility Scale Project Manager. We are seeking an individual who can successfully deliver utility scale projects through construction. The Project Manager will work with a wide range of external counterparties and internal clients and will be responsible for the delivery of projects from the pre-NTP stage through Commercial Operation and final completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead overall project execution from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through Final Completion, ensuring safety, schedule, budget, and quality objectives are achieved.
  • Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, Owner's Engineers, and key stakeholders to drive accountability and resolve project issues.
  • Develop, monitor, and recover project schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating risks that could impact critical milestones.
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, change orders, and cost controls to ensure financial performance aligns with business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, permits, environmental commitments, and applicable regulatory and safety standards.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover activities to support successful project delivery.
  • Monitor construction quality through inspections, testing, and issue resolution while ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Provide regular executive reporting on project health, including progress, risks, financial status, safety performance, and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Lead project meetings with EPC partners, perform site visits, and actively manage installation for quality and safety as Owner, to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Develop and evolve internal processes to deliver projects more effectively.
  • Lead internal project discussions and manage internal teams at the project level.
  • Understand how site control, interconnection, permitting, PPA, and incentive issues impact construction risk and execution.
  • Understand the PV equipment market for leading module, racking, and inverter equipment types; be able to forecast risks associated with different equipment types and their impact on construction schedules and budgets.
  • Versed in EPC Contract commercial terms to represent Owner, mitigate risk, and support the Finance team for contract negotiations.

A successful candidate will possess the following competencies, skills, and attributes:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years' work experience in energy or renewable energy
  • Experience either working as an Owner/Owner's Rep or working with a General Contractor.
  • Highly organized and deadline oriented with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Valid Driver's License
  • OSHA 10+ or receive OSHA 10 certification within 6 months of employment
  • Energetic, willing to learn, grow, and work with the team
  • Highly proficient in project management tools and software
  • Understanding of solar PV equipment, installation, and industry best practices

Location & Hours: This is a full-time hybrid role, based in our Washington, DC office. The candidate can expect to travel on a monthly basis to the project site.

Commitment & Compensation: The base salary for this role is between $120,000 and $160,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the position.
