Used Car Director - Automotive Dealership

Our dealership has an outstanding opportunity for a results-focused, highly driven, and experienced Used Car Director. This position is responsible for leading all aspects of the used vehicle department, including acquisition, appraisal, inventory management, merchandising, pricing, reconditioning oversight, and sales performance. The Used Car Director develops strategies to maximize inventory turn, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee daily operations of the used vehicle department
  • Develop inventory acquisition strategies through trades, auctions, direct purchases, and other sourcing channels
  • Evaluate and approve vehicle appraisals
  • Monitor inventory aging and establish pricing strategies to maximize profitability and inventory turn
  • Coordinate vehicle reconditioning to ensure timely availability for sale
  • Analyze market trends and competitive pricing
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop department managers and sales staff
  • Monitor departmental performance and implement action plans to achieve sales and profit objectives
  • Ensure accurate inventory records and merchandising standards
  • Collaborate with finance, service, and marketing teams to support dealership goals
  • Maintain compliance with dealership policies and applicable regulations
  • Lead regular department meetings and performance reviews

Education and/or Experience

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
