Position Summary...
We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to define and execute the strategy for Walmart's Traffic Foundation platforms. This role will lead the architecture, delivery, and operations of mission-critical traffic management systems that power Walmart's global digital experiences. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in distributed systems, networking, and platform engineering, along with a proven track record of building high-performing organizations, driving large-scale technology transformations, and delivering reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure at enterprise scale.

What you'll do...
Lead Technology Strategy
  • Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for Traffic Foundation platforms.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and infrastructure leaders to align platform investments with business priorities.
  • Establish engineering standards and best practices for scalability, reliability, and security.

Build and Lead High-Performing Teams
  • Lead and develop engineering managers and senior engineers across global teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Drive talent development, organizational planning, and team growth.

Deliver at Scale
  • Lead large, complex, cross-functional initiatives across multiple organizations.
  • Oversee the design and operation of highly available, distributed systems supporting Walmart's critical applications.
  • Drive platform modernization, automation, and cloud adoption initiatives.

Ensure Operational Excellence
  • Own the reliability, performance, and security of critical traffic infrastructure.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish and monitor key operational and engineering metrics.


What You'll Bring
  • Proven success building, developing, and scaling high-performing engineering organizations.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, networking, and traffic management technologies.
  • Experience with Layer 4 and Layer 7 routing, load balancing, proxies, caching, and edge services.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TLS, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience operating large-scale production systems across thousands of servers.
  • Experience delivering large, complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing technical strategy across multiple organizations.
  • Working knowledge of modern programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, or similar technologies.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience with Azure, Kubernetes, platform engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Experience building or operating high-performance proxies, API gateways, CDNs, or service mesh technologies.
  • Proven track record of driving platform strategy, organizational growth, and engineering excellence.
  • Experience leading globally distributed teams and organizations.

Sunnyvale, California US-11657: The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00

Bentonville, Arkansas US-30095: The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
