The Underwriting Manager will contribute to the growth of the business by underwriting Cargo products under general direction, performing highly technical complex assignments within area of expertise. Responsible for large accounts, building, maintaining strategic client and broker relationships, and developing new business submissions. Managing a team of Underwriter’s across multiple geographies and taking ownership of the regions P&L performance.
How will you create an impact:
Providing technical direction to management, less senior underwriters, producers, and claims adjusting colleagues
Accepting, declining or modifying new and renewal submissions: identifying exposures and analysis required to underwrite an account, as well as the coverage policies; determining the exposures to loss assumed and restricted by the insuring agreements and the exclusions
Completing strategic account and portfolio reviews
Managing a book of business and input to the budget relative to regional budget/goals
Establishing new business production goals and submission flow relative to the book of business
Collaborating with North American Marine Leadership, Distribution, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers
Developing and implementing pricing and negotiation strategy, terms & conditions, and deal structures with brokers and clients while maintaining the quality of the risk and underwriting strategy
Providing superior customer service to brokers and clients
Represent AIG at Client and Broker meetings and functions.

What you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum 7 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience
Advanced working knowledge of Marine Cargo line of business with a technical understanding of Multinational and Captive Program including product features, forms, and associated risk, etc.
Must be detail-oriented, possess critical thinking skills, decision making based on level of authority, problem solving, competent using analytical tools and technology
Effective in dynamic environment, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, working at pace and prioritizing multiple tasks
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), collaboration, building trust with wide range of colleagues and clients
Have a strong financial understanding, appetite for learning about the industry, negotiating and focused on profitable outcomes
Post-Secondary education and or Canadian Insurance Professional designation.
