Overview of Position
Ready to shape the future of underwriting? As the Underwriting Automation & Transformation Manager, you will lead the modernization of underwriting workflows through automation, analytics, and AI-enabled decision support. You will connect underwriting expertise with product, technology, operations, and data teams to turn complex business needs into practical solutions that improve speed, accuracy, consistency, compliance, and customer outcomes.
This is a high-impact individual contributor and project leadership role for someone who can see the big picture, get close to the work, and build momentum from idea through adoption. You will create roadmaps, guide cross-functional delivery, measure value, and help underwriting teams use technology responsibly and confidently.


What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
•    Lead end-to-end assessment and redesign of underwriting workflows, including intake, triage, eligibility review, referrals, exceptions, quality review, and decision support.
•    Identify and prioritize opportunities to automate manual work, reduce process variation, improve turnaround time, and support scalable underwriting operations.
•    Translate underwriting processes, pain points, and business rules into clear automation requirements, AI-enabled use cases, analytics solutions, and implementation roadmaps.
•    Partner with underwriting, product, operations, data, and technology teams to develop tools that support consistent risk evaluation, appetite alignment, and portfolio insights.
•    Define and track success measures for transformation initiatives, including productivity, cycle time, decision consistency, quality, adoption, and value realization.
•    Guide adoption through training, feedback loops, change readiness, and ongoing partnership with underwriting teams.
•    Coordinate internal and external project resources, communicate progress and dependencies, and help teams move from concept to implementation.
•    Advance governance for automation and AI solutions through documentation, controls, transparency, auditability, security, and alignment with underwriting standards.
•    Monitor emerging underwriting technology and help shape a future-state operating model that balances automation, expert judgment, risk discipline, and business growth.


What are the requirements needed for this position?
•    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
•    4+ or more years of experience in automation or digital transformation, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or project leadership role.
•    Experience supporting underwriting, insurance operations, risk management, product, or a related property insurance function, with the ability to analyze workflows, business rules, referral processes, and operational challenges and translate them into scalable automation, analytics, or AI-enabled solutions.
•    Experience partnering with underwriting subject matter experts and technology teams to evaluate and deliver digital transformation initiatives, from use-case assessment and requirements development through implementation, controls, and user adoption.
•    Experience defining and measuring transformation outcomes using dashboards and performance metrics, including productivity, quality, cycle time, decision consistency, adoption, and business value.


What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
•    Experience modernizing property and casualty (P&C) underwriting operations is preferred.


How much should I expect to travel?
Occasional travel may be required for team meetings, summits / events, orothers as needed.

Pay Range:

$103,800.00 - $173,300.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
