Job Description

We are seeking an Underwriter Associate to support commercial real estate title transactions by analyzing title searches, commitments, surveys, and legal descriptions to assess and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will assist with issuing title commitments and proformas, identifying title defects, and developing solutions to facilitate timely closings, while working closely with Senior Underwriters, escrow officers, lenders, and clients throughout the deal process.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties
  • Assist with managing portfolio transactions and multi-site deals by keeping spreadsheets organized and following the lead of Senior Underwriter/Title Officer to assist with proforma revisions, survey reads and curative items.
  • Analyze title searches, commitments, surveys, legal descriptions, organizational documents, and transaction structures to assess and mitigate risk
  • Issue title commitments and proformas with endorsements in compliance with underwriting guidelines and state-specific regulations.
  • Identify title defects, curative requirements, and risk issues, and develop practical solutions to facilitate timely closings.
  • Work to independently underwrite transactions with insured amounts below management set thresholds.
  • Communicate closely with assigned commercial escrow officers on each transaction to prepare needs lists for closings.
  • Assist in resolving underwriting objections raised by lenders, borrowers, and counsel
  • Support claims avoidance efforts through thorough risk analysis and documentation
  • Communicate with all parties on commercial transactions, take client phone calls, and participate in deal specific conference calls.

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 annually

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $75,000 to $95,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, this position may be eligible for additional types of compensation including discretionary bonuses and other short- and long-term incentives (e.g., deferred cash, equity, etc.).
