Job DescriptionAs an Underground Mine Control Systems engineer, you will serve as the liaison between planned operations and actual outcomes. Your role involves expanding, detailing, and refining operational plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals on a short interval level. This role manages underground mining operations and delivers mine design and physicals to approved standards in line with the life of Mine Schedule and Budget requirements through application of a Safe Mining System and achievement of the strategic plan.
- Operate and improve control, coordination and communication systems for the integration of the Mine Control into the underground mining operations, infrastructure and emergency response
- Oversee the provision of current information to the underground mining operations
- Utilize current systems for the collection of mining physicals and equipment utilization data and incorporate in reporting.
- Engineer the execution of work underground utilizing task planning, work allocation and shift scheduling tools and working relationships to safely achieve mining physicals.
- Co-ordination with Underground Shift Supervisor to action the adjusted Daily Plan
- Identifies possible upcoming schedule risks within area of control and initiates control measures to mitigate effects on overall project schedule.
- Actively looks for opportunities to accelerate works to provide schedule opportunities in area of control.
Prepare weekly / monthly reports on all projects and communicate to all relevant stakeholders. - Design and implement value adding reporting systems.
- Actively look for opportunities to implement cost savings without effecting safety, schedule or quality.
Qualifications- 3-5 years working in mining industry preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative working style, building strong internal and external relationships.
- Ability to work harmoniously in cross cultural environments.
- Ability to engage external consultants and contractors
- Excellent planning, organizing and prioritization capabilities.
- Basic knowledge of mining cycle and activities
- Knowledge of data databases and management
- Knowledge of dispatching/ Short Interval Control software, ie Pitram, Deswik.OPS, Fewzion preferred
Additional informationPhysical Requirements:- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
