Full Job Description
YOUR MISSION

Creatives like you are essential to this mission - to inspire, define, and build. This is some of the most meaningful work you'll ever do, in an industry devoted to protecting the people you care about.

We're looking for a UI designer to join a growing creative team at an early and exciting moment for the company. This is a hands-on visual role - drawing screens, building components, extending our design system, and whatever else the mission demands. Your artistic talent is front and center; you'll work alongside our senior designers, who will frame the problem while you own the craft of the answer. You'll work directly with our Creative Director who's building this team for people who care as much about the craft as the mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Nobody has defined what mission-critical space software should look and feel like. There's no decade-old design system handed down from a legacy defense contractor to follow. No committee approving your component library. The interfaces you help build here will set the standard for how a critical industry empowers the people defending it.

This is the level where a lot of designers get stuck resizing banners and tidying slide templates. Not here. You'll be drawing the product itself - the screens operators use to do serious work - and your work will be seen at the highest levels of government and military. Expect more range, and more responsibility, than the title suggests.

If you've ever wanted your craft to carry real weight - this is that job.
  • Help us build our product. Design screens, components, and layouts that feed our engineering teams as they build our software products. We're not multi-platform or mobile, our focus is on a desktop environment.
  • Extend and maintain our scalable UI design framework - components, states, iconography, type, and color -keep it coherent and able to support future content and features.
  • Produce high-fidelity mockups and working prototypes quickly, then iterate on them faster.
  • Bring impeccable design and artistic vision into everything we do, make us stand out

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Show us a portfolio of interface work with real visual craft - dense, complicated screens interest us more than landing pages
  • A couple of years designing product UI, and the appetite to work at a pace that would surprise most product teams. UX design is not a requirement but knowledge of UX flow and best practices is useful.
  • While defense and space knowledge is great, we don't expect it. Tech, games, design/creative agency and freelance are all good backgrounds for this role
  • We work in Figma for UI with Adobe Creative Suite alongside it - comfort with these is essential; motion, 3D, or a little code literacy is a plus
  • Leverage your experience to work quickly and efficiently, we're a lean team, everyone needs to pitch in and move fast
  • Take ownership of the work you're given and see it through to final execution, with the judgement to ask early when something isn't clear
  • Turn your hand to what's needed, UI will be your primary focus but our company needs people able to wear multiple hats. You'll need to be comfortable working with multiple disciplines across the company.

COMPENSATION
  • Base Salary: $115,000- $165,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work Location-Successful candidates will be located near one of our offices in Long Beach, CA, Denver, CO, or Washington DC. However, for the right candidate we will consider remote.
  • Work environment-the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
  • Physical demands-the physical demands of the job, including bending, sitting, lifting and driving.

This position will be open until it is successfully filled. To submit your application, please follow the directions below. #LI-Hybrid
