Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity located in Poway, CA for a UAV Systems Specialist working on the MQ-9B Team to develop, test, and field the system for customer operations. This position will support development and fielding of a new UAS variant to international customers who plan to use the system to perform maritime surveillance missions.

With general direction, this role will support both technical and programmatic aspects of the program and will work closely with engineering and technical publications teams. The UAV Systems Specialist will be part of the MQ-9B Chief Engineering team and will represent the company as a technical subject matter expert on projects, interacting with key suppliers, coordinating between internal organizations, and leading execution of program activities related to technical documentation, integrated product support (IPS), and training products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Confluence / Documentation / IPS Focus (MQ-9B Program)
  • Confluence administration: create, update, and organize technical documentation, project pages, and knowledge bases in Confluence for the MQ-9B program.
  • Integrated Product Support (IPS): assist with publication-related activities, including data entry, tracking, and reporting to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to collect and distribute technical information in support of technical publications, training materials, and customer deliverables.
  • Ensure all documentation and data meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to documentation, IPS, and training.
  • Travel (up to 25%) is required to support customer meetings and integration/testing at our airport facilities.
  • Reads, interprets, and analyzes engineering source material such as engineering drawings, software documents, test plans, design specifications/documents, and interviews with technical experts to develop accurate technical content.
  • Reviews document specifications with internal and external customers to ensure final documents clearly and effectively communicate technical information and data.
  • Troubleshoots conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special material requirements.
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required to customers, management, and internal stakeholders.
  • May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single-component projects.
  • Provides direction to design or technical staff and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree and five or more years of professional engineering/military technical and/or documentation experience. Equivalent professional engineering/military technical, operations, and/or maintenance experience may be substituted in lieu of education/training. Must have formal training in one or more safety disciplines.
  • Must demonstrate an excellent understanding of military and/or commercial systems, a strong working knowledge of the engineering development process, and an understanding of logistic support analysis and principles.
  • Must possess:
  • Ability to develop, acquire, interpret and communicate engineering technical data.
  • Ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them in an evolving environment.
  • Ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases and determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level.
  • Ability to identify issues and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex technical problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document, present and report recommendations.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer operations and applications.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain a maintain a DoD secret security clearance required.
