Job Title: Turnaround Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced Turnaround Execution Coordinator II to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing facility shutdowns and turnarounds in industrial environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical knowledge of industrial operations, exceptional coordination skills, and the ability to manage complex, time-sensitive projects. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure turnaround activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within budget while minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities

Turnaround Planning & Coordination:

  • Provide early design input for brownfield expansion projects, addressing operational learnings to minimize required downtime
  • Finalize comprehensive shutdown plans including categorization, scope lists, execution timing/sequencing, and isolation philosophy
  • Coordinate with multifunctional planning teams to complete integrated schedules and checkpoint deliverables
  • Conduct lean thinking reviews to optimize scope and execution approach
  • Develop and track supporting plans including communication, contingency, emergency response, staffing, and contractor management
  • Steward tracking of integrated plan activities through final go/no-go decision points
  • Coordinate pre-work requirements including materials and initial activities
  • Oversee development of detailed isolation plans and finalization of Management of Change (MOC) documentation
  • Facilitate reviews with senior leadership on checkpoint milestones and post-shutdown lookback assessments

Mentorship & Process Improvement:

  • Mentor less experienced shutdown coordinators on best practices and shutdown management processes
  • Support the development and refinement of integrated scheduling tools (Primavera, Microsoft Project, etc.)
  • Provide feedback on enhancement opportunities for shutdown execution schedule KPIs and planning processes
  • Assist in developing crash planning and preparation processes for unplanned shutdowns
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in turnaround/shutdown planning and execution in industrial environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies and scheduling tools
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols and requirements
  • Experience with Management of Change (MOC) processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Advanced proficiency with project scheduling software (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet critical deadlines

Preferred:

  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP) or related field
  • Experience in petrochemical, refining, or other process manufacturing industries
  • Knowledge of lean methodologies and continuous improvement processes
  • Experience with emergency response and contingency planning
  • Background in maintenance reliability or operations in industrial settings
