Job Summary

Supervise, coordinate, and direct the activities of employees and contractors engaged in the maintenance, repair, inspection, overhaul, and reliability improvement of turbine-generator equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems. Responsible for ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Provides leadership for planned outages, emergent repairs, predictive maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives that support reliable generation operations. This role manages work execution, staffing, budgets, contractor performance, and equipment reliability for assigned maintenance activities. This job will require up to 50% travel.

What you'll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

Safety Leadership
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety rules, LOTO procedures, confined space requirements, hot work requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct field observations, safety meetings, and employee coaching.


Maintenance Supervision
  • Supervise union and non-union personnel performing turbine and mechanical maintenance activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, assign, and monitor daily work activities.
  • Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to maintenance standards and procedures.
  • Optimize workforce utilization and scheduling to meet operational needs.


Turbine & Mechanical Equipment Reliability
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of steam turbines, combustion turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, valves, heat exchangers, rotating equipment, and auxiliary systems.
  • Support predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and availability.
  • Partner with engineering and operations to resolve repetitive equipment issues.


Outage Planning & Execution
  • Coordinate planned maintenance outages and emergent repair activities.
  • Develop scopes of work, schedules, resource plans, and contractor requirements.
  • Monitor outage performance against safety, schedule, quality, and budget expectations.
  • Support post-outage reviews and lessons learned activities.


Contractor Management
  • Direct contractor and vendor activities during maintenance and outage work.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with safety requirements, work specifications, and quality standards.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.


Budget & Resource Management
  • Manage O&M expenses and maintenance budgets.
  • Forecast labor, material, and contractor requirements.
  • Monitor costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.


Employee Development
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and training opportunities.
  • Support workforce development, succession planning, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
  • Ensure employees maintain required qualifications and certifications.


Continuous Improvement
  • Utilize Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Human Performance Improvement (HPI), Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve performance.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that increase safety, reliability, productivity, and equipment performance.


What We're looking for:

Education requirements are listed below:

One of the following:
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field and six (6) years of relevant experience; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and eight (8) years of power generation, industrial maintenance, millwright, mechanical maintenance, or related experience.


Work Experience requirements are listed below:
  • Experience leading maintenance activities in a power generation, industrial, manufacturing, refinery, pulp and paper, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience with turbine-generator maintenance, outages, or major equipment overhauls.
  • Demonstrated leadership, crew coordination, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Steam turbine or combustion turbine maintenance experience.
  • Combined cycle generation experience.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent certification.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, alignment, precision maintenance, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience managing large outage contractors and major capital projects.
  • Lean Six Sigma, RCA, or Human Performance Improvement training.
