Overview
Responsible for perioperative nursing duties and functions as a scrub, circulator or RN First Assist. Assists the operating surgeon during the operative procedure and provides comprehensive nursing management of care to the patient during the perioperative phase.
Licensure
Registered Nurse Required Certified Perioperative Nurse Required
CRNFA (Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant) certification preferred
Education
Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required Graduate Successful completion of RN first assistant education program Required
Experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- 3 years of experience
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in North Carolina or a compact state.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Completion of an accredited RNFA program that meets AORN standards
- Current CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification.
- Minimum of two years of recent perioperative/operating room experience.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
- Ability to function effectively as a First Assistant during surgical procedures, including tissue handling, retraction, exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and wound management.
