SummaryResponsible for leading and overseeing national transportation support functions that enable GLOVIS to operate an efficient, cost-effective, and resilient finished vehicle transportation network. This position serves to provide strategic oversight of carrier performance, transportation systems, network optimization, vendor management, transportation analytics, and operational support. The Manager will utilize operational data, industry knowledge, and market intelligence to identify opportunities and risks within the transportation network and develop actionable strategies to support GLOVIS' short-, mid-, and long-term transportation objectives. The position will work closely with Logistics Operations, Logistics Planning, Procurement, Information Technology, Finance, and external transportation providers to ensure the transportation network has the capacity, systems, processes, and carrier partnerships necessary to meet customer and wholesale objectives. The Manager will also provide leadership and direction to the Transportation Support team and will be expected to independently manage complex projects, develop executive-level reporting, and make recommendations to senior management regarding transportation strategy, carrier performance, network changes, and operational improvements.
Compensation$101,000 - $113,000 yearly salary range. (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)
ResponsibilitiesTransportation Strategy & Network Optimization
- Support the development and execution of transportation strategies designed to move finished vehicles in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Analyze transportation network to identify capacity constraints, operational gaps, cost opportunities, service risks, and areas requiring network optimization.
- Lead and support network optimization studies involving lanes, ports, markets, volumes, carrier capacity, transportation costs, and service requirements.
- Evaluate current and projected volumes to determine the transportation capacity and equipment requirements necessary to support future business needs.
- Work closely with Logistics Planning and Procurement to develop and distribute forecasts and ensure network strategies align with anticipated growth.
- Identify the geographic origin of future volume increases and proactively communicate expected capacity requirements to transportation providers.
- Work with carriers to develop mid and long-term plans for additional equipment, drivers, terminals, and other resources required to support GLOVIS volumes.
- Develop contingency strategies to ensure the transportation network can withstand market disruptions, capacity shortages, seasonal challenges, and other industry conditions.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and risks within the national transportation network.
Carrier Management & Procurement Support
- Support vendor bid processes, carrier selection, RFPs, and transportation network awards alongside the Procurement Department.
- Conduct carrier rate negotiations and provide recommendations regarding transportation rates and contract terms.
- Analyze carrier capabilities, capacity, geographic coverage, financial considerations, and historical performance when evaluating transportation providers.
- Lead the on-boarding process for new transportation providers and ensure new vendors are properly integrated into GLOVIS processes and systems.
- Establish clear expectations for new carriers regarding operational procedures, ITMS requirements, reporting, billing, and KPI performance.
- Monitor incumbent carrier performance and identify carriers requiring performance improvement or corrective action.
- Develop recovery plans with under-performing carriers and establish measurable timelines and expectations for improvement.
- Recommend carrier replacement, removal, or supplemental capacity when performance or capacity requirements cannot be achieved.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement to ensure transportation sourcing decisions support both immediate operational needs and long-term network stability.
Carrier KPI & Club Elite Performance Management
- Oversee carrier KPI performance utilizing GLOVIS Club Elite reporting and other operational performance metrics.
- Proactively identify trends and performance gaps before they materially impact transportation operations.
- Analyze carrier performance across service, shipment execution, ETA accuracy, dwell, capacity, damage ratios, and other applicable transportation KPIs.
- Partner with Transportation Operations and carriers to address root causes of recurring performance issues.
- Escalate significant carrier performance concerns to senior management and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Utilize KPI data to support carrier evaluations, RFP decisions, network changes, and ongoing capacity planning.
- Maintain a forward-looking approach to carrier performance by identifying emerging risks rather than solely responding to existing failures.

Education & EXperience- Bachelor's Required
- 7 - 10 years of direct experience in Logistics, Trucking, Rail Operations, Supply Chain, Port Operations, Procurement
- 1 - 3 years supervisory experience
Physical Requirements- Ability to sit in front of a desk and/or in front of the computer for long periods
- Must operate desktop, computers, laptop, printer, scanners, shredders, etc.
- Constant use of hand/grasping product, writing, and typing
- Sit for 5+ hours per day
