The Basics

Location: Wilson's Mills, North Carolina Flour Mill

Compensation: $90,000 and up to start, based on experience. Eligible to earn performance bonus.

Days/Hours: The hours worked for this job will vary depending on activity and business needs. You will be required to work some weekends and off shifts as needed. Availability is important.

Equipment Used: Semi trucks, box trailers, and pneumatic trailers including cyclone and Evac style trailers

Material Handled: Bulk and packaged wheat flour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will oversee all aspects of our transportation operations, ensuring the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and compliance while focusing on continuous improvement activities that align with our organizational goals. The Transportation Manager will establish customer relationships and manage product deliveries to customers utilizing a fleet of trucks operating under DOT regulations. This will include coordinating truck loading and working closely with the operations team and Regional Transportation Manager to efficiently utilize drivers and equipment to meet customer demands in a courteous, timely, and professional manner.

  • Participate in Team Member engagement including leading growth discussions and leadership conversations
  • Responsible for accurate processing of payroll and quarterly driver incentives
  • Coach drivers on driving performance based on feedback from our onboard technology championing exceptional safe driving performance
  • Attend company leadership trainings focused on safety, leadership, and hiring and onboarding, travel may be required
  • Provide leadership, support, and accountability for the implementation of all required safety, regulatory, and company programs and/or protocols
  • Conduct quarterly Team Member reviews and perform Team Member observations
  • Perform safety inspections, monitor facility operations and quality controls
  • Effectively communicate tasks, directives, and policies with both senior management and supervised Team Members
  • Key abilities include prioritizing tasks, managing multiple communication channels, and addressing unexpected issues without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency
  • Ability to read and comprehend both written and oral operational and safety rules, policies, and procedures, and to communicate clearly with fellow Team Members and leaders
  • You are responsible for food safety


Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with college education preferred
  • 5 years management experience in logistics, dispatching, and supply chain management
  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA standards and compliance
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude, specifically related to the trucking industry
  • Current Class A CDL (preferred)
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment to interact with all levels of operational management and regulatory agencies
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Work experience requiring strict adherence to regulatory requirements is preferred

  • You will need the ability to frequently lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds and occasionally more
  • This job will require the ability to ascend/descend ladders and stairs
  • Ability to detect odors and understand/discern safety warning systems
  • You will be required to wear PPE
  • Will be exposed to the weather, including extreme heat and/or cold, wind, rain, snow, and other adverse weather conditions
  • Must be able to walk over uneven surfaces
  • Will be exposed to various site hazards, including but not limited to loud noises and flashing lights, dust and fumes, hazardous materials, heavy equipment and machinery, and other situations specific to the work and location
