Transportation Manager

About the Role

Essity is seeking a Transportation Manager to join our Distribution North America team which his located in Appleton, WI.  The Distribution North America Team is responsible for securing reliable and cost-effective transportation and warehouse solutions that meet business service goals and enable growth for our famous brands.

The Transportation Manager is responsible for securing reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective transportation solutions that support Essity's diverse portfolio of Health & Medical, Personal Care(Retail), and Professional Hygiene businesses. This role manages transportation performance and spend across North America, overseeing a carrier network of nearly 100 external service providers and more than $100 million in annual transportation expenditures across road and rail modes.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing transportation sourcing strategies, managing carrier bids and contracts, and ensuring the efficient movement of finished goods, semi-finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials. The Transportation Manager plays a critical role in Essity's fulfillment strategy by optimizing carrier partnerships, driving service excellence, controlling costs, and ensuring consistent delivery performance for Essity customers.

The ideal candidate should be located in the Neenah, Menasha, Appleton, WI area.

What You Will Do
  • Monitor transportation service KPI's; explain deviations, and develop and execute corrective actions plans
  • Develop and manage projects for transportation cost optimization / reduction; cost analysis and lane optimization.
  • Negotiate transportation contracts as required and provide input on actual and projected costs for AP and Budgetary purposes.
  • Develop new carrier relationships, conduct business review meetings with carriers internally and externally and set-up contracts.
  • Visit market facilities on regular basis in order to ensure site operations and transport sourcing/planning process harmonization.
  • Liaison to Customer Service, Customer Logistics, Warehousing, Planning, and other internal stakeholders for transportation-related issues and operational escalations.
  • Works closely with SmartHub planning team to ensure essity approved carriers are optimally deployed to achieve required service level, cost, and operational efficiencies
  • Perform other essential responsibilities as deemed necessary by Regional Distribution Manager or Global Logistics Organization

Who You Are
  • 5+ years Transportation experience with understanding of transportation procurement and planning processes;
  • Minimum Bachelor of business administration or similar preferred;
  • Capable of working in a matrix organization, driving collaboration across businesses and functions.  Experience working with international contacts is preferred;
  • Innovative capabilities, requiring strategic thinking and foresight;
  • Strong business analysis skills and ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment;
  • SAP and TMS (Blue Yonder) system experience is a plus;
  • Skilled communicator at all levels.
