This role sits out of our Long Island City, NY office.

This Opportunity

Be involved in projects with our Mobility Operations Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Supervise System Operators during shift
  • Assist Trainer in training of new staff
  • Know the operations and procedures of all ITS systems
  • Perform special projects and tasks as requested, delegate tasks to staff members
  • Assist System Operators in every aspect of their duties; when necessary
  • Assist Operations Manager in developing and updating protocols, procedures, training materials and conducting staff performance evaluation
  • Assist in creating and implementing a staff schedule; Update weekly or when necessary
  • Communicate with police, rescue, media, tow, TRANSCOM, and construction & maintenance contractors concerning roadway incidents and/or equipment failures
  • Consult with partner agency management to construct emergency and special Variable Message Sign (VMS) messages
  • In coordination with the Operations Manager, handle correspondence between TMC and outside agencies and authorities
  • Meet/Interview potential candidates for hire
  • Assist Operations Manager in preparing monthly incident progress reports for our client Resolve problems and staff complaints
  • Create Daily Summary Report for the shift
  • Mentor new staff
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must meet all the following conditions:
  • High School Diploma
  • 7 years of experience with a TMC type facility and/or traffic management
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Personnel management experience
  • Public, internal and external relations (works well with internal, external and partner groups and individuals)
  • Analytical and organizational skills
  • Computer/Software - including MS Office applications, spreadsheets and databases
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others in a team environment

All candidates must successfully pass a NYSP Criminal History Background Check.
