Job Description
Join our Nashville team as a key contributor delivering civil engineering solutions for transit infrastructure, complete streets, and active transportation projects across the region. This role supports a variety of projects, including highways, tunnels, mass transit systems, and aviation facilities, working with clients such as WeGO Public Transit, Nashville DOT, and TDOT.
Key Responsibilities
Design and support transit infrastructure projects, including BRT corridors, stops, stations, and passenger amenities.
Develop complete streets and multimodal designs integrating pedestrian, bicycle, and transit elements in compliance with ADA and design standards.
Prepare and review construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local regulations and firm quality standards.
Conduct ADA assessments, field reviews, and site investigations.
Support construction through inspections of transportation infrastructure as needed.
Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and presentations.
Mentor junior staff and review their work.
Participate in professional activities and support knowledge sharing.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads Designer.
Strong knowledge of AASHTO, PROWAG, MUTCD, and Tennessee DOT standards.
Experience designing roadway, drainage, grading, and utilities for urban transit and multimodal projects.
Familiarity with complete streets, Vision Zero, and active transportation frameworks.
Working knowledge of ADA and universal design in public right-of-way.
Project & Client Delivery
Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting quality and schedule expectations.
Strong communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
Experience working with public agencies (transit authorities, DOTs).
Skilled in coordinating with subconsultants and multidisciplinary teams.
