DescriptionModern Railway Systems, the systems subsidiary of Stacy Witbeck is hiring a Project Engineer to help deliver our work for our Texas region. You'll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic Team that prioritizes mentorship, training, and personal and professional growth, and teambuilding. This Team has a lot of horsepower, and they are looking for a teammate who brings self-starting energy that will add value on day one. Project scopes include design and construction of transit train control and communication systems as well as the maintenance and installation of traction power and distribution systems. Being the liaison between project management and field operations, you will oversee and execute the technical, planning, and administrative aspects of the projects to ensure they are completed per the specifications, safely, on time, and within budget.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Project Leadership: Lead assigned transit systems projects through planning, execution, and closeout. Coordinate field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements. Report to project manager.
Client Management: Serve as the primary day-to-day customer contact. Lead project meetings, provide project updates, resolve issues, and maintain positive relationships with transit agencies, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Project Controls & Documentation: Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, project correspondence, and project logs. Ensure project teams are working from current drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Financial Management: Monitor project budgets, forecasts, labor productivity, material costs, and subcontractor performance. Prepare monthly cost projections and identify risks and opportunities affecting project profitability.
Estimating & Change Management: Develop estimates, pricing, and change order proposals. Review contract documents for scope gaps, risk exposures, and value engineering opportunities.
Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules and look-ahead plans. Track progress, identify schedule risks, and implement recovery actions as necessary.
Team & Subcontractor Management: Provide leadership and direction to Field Engineers and subcontractors. Manage performance, coordinate work activities, and ensure alignment with project goals and requirements.
Field Operations: Conduct site visits and field walks to verify construction progress, quality, and compliance. Provide technical support and resolve field coordination, interface, and constructability issues.
Quality & Safety: Promote a culture of safety and quality. Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, contract specifications, company policies, and project quality standards.
Risk Management: Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and drive timely resolution of technical, commercial, and operational issues.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise**Please note--Requirements are essential, and preferences have flexibility.
Education: B.S. Degree in Construction Management or other relevant engineering discipline or equivalent years of experience in related field.
REQUIREMENTS- 2-6 years of experience as a Field or Project Engineer working on transit rail projects.
- Understanding of conventional project management controls
- Proficiency in scheduling, PDF Editors, MS Office Suites, Teams
- Valid U.S. Driver's License in good standing.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel for project needs, corporate events and training.
PREFERENCES- Experience in Procore, Bluebeam, Visio, and SharePoint is a plus.
