Full Job Description

Job title: Transformation Lead, Strategy and Operations, Specialty Care GBU

Location: Cambridge, MA/Morristown, NJ

About the job

Join the team transforming care for people with immune challenges, rare diseases, cancers, and neurological conditions. In Specialty Care, you’ll help deliver breakthrough treatments that bring hope to patients with some of the highest unmet needs.

The Transformation Lead turns the Specialty Care GBU’s transformation priorities into delivered change across its franchises and functions. Sitting within the Strategy & Operations team, you will lead complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives, spanning digital and AI-enabled ways of working through to operational excellence, and carry them from design to adoption and measurable impact.

Reporting to the Global Head of Strategy & Operations, Specialty Care GBU, this is a senior individual leadership role. You will mobilize and direct cross-functional expert teams, working alongside the subject-matter experts and functional groups that own data, analytics, and AI platform capabilities, and bringing those capabilities into the GBU to deliver impact at scale across its franchises and functions.

Main responsibilities:

Transformation Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of priority transformation initiatives for the Specialty Care GBU, from framing and business case through execution, adoption, and value capture.

  • Translate enterprise digital and AI capabilities into practical change within the GBU’s franchises and functions, partnering with the teams that own those platforms and data assets.

  • Build and run delivery plans, milestones, and governance for each initiative; anticipate risks and remove the barriers that slow execution.

Digital, AI & Operational Excellence

  • Identify where digital, AI, and better ways of working create the most value across the GBU value chain, and shape these into deliverable initiatives.

  • Drive operational excellence and cross-franchise synergies, scaling what works and retiring what does not.

  • Embed new tools and processes so they are genuinely adopted and sustained, not simply launched.

Cross-functional Leadership & Influence

  • Mobilize and lead cross-functional expert teams through the matrix, without direct authority, holding diverse contributors to shared goals and timelines.

  • Work effectively with senior leaders across R&D, Commercial, Medical, Finance, and the Digital, Data, and AI functions, influencing decisions and priorities through credibility and evidence.

  • Act as a trusted partner to the Strategy & Operations leadership and the wider Specialty Care GBU leadership team on transformation matters.

Measurement & Impact

  • Define and track the metrics that show each initiative has delivered, connecting activity to operational and business outcomes.

  • Establish clear accountability and reporting so progress and impact are visible to GBU leadership.

  • Capture and share lessons and reusable approaches to accelerate future transformation.

About you

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; business, scientific, engineering, or related field is preferred.

  • An advanced degree (MBA, MSc, or equivalent) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience delivering complex transformation, with a demonstrable record of change that was implemented, adopted, and scaled, rather than transformation strategy alone.

  • A blend of the following is highly valued: digital and AI-enabled transformation in a complex enterprise; operating-model, ways-of-working, or operational-excellence transformation within biopharma (commercial, medical, or R&D); and experience gained in a top-tier strategy or transformation consulting environment.

  • A track record of leading cross-functional initiatives through a matrix, coordinating internal and external resources to deliver on time and to outcome.

  • Working familiarity with how digital, data, and AI capabilities are built and deployed, and how to bring them into a business to create value.

  • Must be able to travel 20% domestic and international.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Delivery focus: turns ambiguous, complex problems into structured plans and carries them through to measurable impact.

  • Digital & AI fluency: conversant enough with digital, data, and AI to partner credibly with technical experts and translate capability into business value.

  • Influence: exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the credibility to align senior leaders and mobilize teams without direct authority.

  • Agility: comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, matrixed global environment.

Leadership skills:

  • Cross-functional leadership: leads through influence, energizing matrix teams and drawing on the strengths of diverse experts toward a common goal.

  • Strategic thinking: connects individual initiatives to the GBU’s broader strategy and priorities, and keeps execution pragmatic and focused.

  • Relationships and influence: politically astute, builds trust quickly, and role-models collaboration across functions and levels.

  • Result orientation: driven to deliver outcomes, takes ownership, anticipates issues, and takes calculated decisions to keep initiatives moving.

Languages:

  • Fluent in English.

Why Choose Us?

  • Bring the miracles of science to life alongside a supportive, future-focused team.

  • Discover endless opportunities to grow your talent and drive your career, whether it’s through a promotion or lateral move, at home or internationally.

  • Enjoy a thoughtful, well-crafted rewards package that recognizes your contribution and amplifies your impact.

  • Take good care of yourself and your family, with a wide range of health and wellbeing benefits including high-quality healthcare, prevention and wellness programs and at least 14 weeks’ gender-neutral parental leave.
