Full Job Description
RSM is looking for a Manager to join our Deals Accounting and Strategic Finance practice with a focus in Transaction Accounting service line. Changing economies, new accounting policies and evolving tax regulations mean that business and professional services firms face an ever-changing business landscape. Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple concurrent engagements within the Deals Accounting and Strategic Finance practice to provide technical accounting and financial or business advisory guidance to clients
  • Demonstrate intermediate to advanced knowledge of complex accounting concepts
  • Provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations including coordinating the development and execution of the consulting work plan and client deliverables
  • Collaborate directly with firm specialists/subject matter experts on complex accounting matters
  • Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors on engagement teams
  • Oversee engagement economics and manage appropriate resources for efficient engagement models
  • Provide accounting advisory and execution support across complex buy-side and sell-side transactions
  • Support sell-side readiness by identifying accounting gaps, improving and preparing transaction-ready financial reporting, enhancing monthly and quarter-end close processes, and addressing complex accounting considerations in advance of exit processes
  • Perform transaction-related accounting analyses, including business combinations, carve-outs, and resolution of complex accounting and reporting issues under applicable accounting standards
  • Design and implement accounting policies, reporting structures, and finance and accounting processes including scalable monthly close frameworks and controls to support accurate financial reporting
  • Support day-one and post-close accounting and financial reporting readiness, including stabilization of the monthly close, accounting and finance functional integration, and coordination across stakeholders
  • Assist management with post-close financial reporting obligations, purchase agreement requirements, and ongoing accounting and financial reporting integration activities including ongoing close optimization and reporting cadence alignment
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise; identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Understand RSM's service lines and work as a team in providing an integrated service delivery
  • Develop others within the Transaction Accounting service line through mentoring, training and advising on career development or participating in other Firm initiatives
  • Understand RSM's lines of businesses, availability of services and where applicable, discuss with client management of opportunities to make valuable introductions to others in the firm
  • Develop a strategy to utilize relationships external to the firm with different types of Centers of Influence to effectuate business growth
  • Subscribe to and actively read industry publications and share relevant information with clients as considered applicable
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education
  • Willingness to travel 25% or less of the year, depending on your clients


Required Qualifications:
  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years of current or recent experience in a public accounting, financial reporting or technical accounting capacity
  • Excellent team and project management skills
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of audit services with knowledge of US GAAP regulations
  • A proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships
  • Minimum of 4 years of team lead or in-charge experience overseeing staff on multiple engagements


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing project teams related to one or more of the following areas: accounting and finance optimization, audit readiness, complex accounting analysis and consultation
  • A successful record of directing and deploying staff and senior associates on multiple, simultaneous engagements
  • CPA or equivalent certification

The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $101,000 - $203,000

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
