PAY RANGE: $85,000 - 95,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Planning and Integration Director, this position oversees and assists administration of a broad array of training activities ranging from creation to teaching new hire orientations and program/procedure/instruction training in accordance with the Divisions' QA Manuals and Business Processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training Coordination and Record Keeping
  • Manage and coordinate enrollment, logistics, class set up, trainer, material, vendors, etc. at any necessary location.
  • Maintain training records both electronically and hard copy in accordance with Corporate requirements and distribute training reports upon request.
  • Support the maintenance and tracking of business critical employee qualifications and specific certifications.
  • Compile and report training statistics/metrics using charts, graphs or other written reports.
  • Manage and maintain security and accountability of training materials and examinations.
  • Manage training material.
    • Provide new employee on-boarding and orientation training in selected technical, safety, quality and other compliance topics.
    • Identify additional training needs within the organization. May include broad employee groups as well as developing individual training plans.
    • Source appropriate instructors to provide onsite training to employees which may include self-performance


Training Development and Competency Review
  • Training Design and Delivery
    • Assist in the development, delivery and documentation of curriculum.
  • Work with SMEs to create appropriate instructions and training modules, conduct classes.
  • Create a process for trainees to demonstrate competency and retention in the program.
  • Adjust, improve processes and retrain when necessary.


JOB SCOPE:

This job is performed with considerable flexibility for initiating improvements and exercising independent decision making within the assigned functional area of responsibility. Independent judgment is used in establishing training schedules and accomplishing work, handling conflicts and analyzing alternatives and maintaining recordkeeping systems. The work is performed with limited daily supervision under the broad oversight and management of the Training Records Systems Manager. This position necessitates the coordination of priorities and schedules of a number of other employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position may indirectly or directly supervise individuals conducting training activities or leading training opportunities.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:

The position is expected to interact with employees at all levels throughout the company as well as with customers, the public and others encountered in the course of the work.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated lifelong learner characteristics
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating training events or other complex event management.
  • Ability to assess progress, provide constructive feedback and assess competency.
  • Ability to work with individuals both one on one and in a formal classroom environment to present and or demonstrate material in a manner appropriate to the trainee's needs.
  • Ability to read and write the English language
  • Must have legible handwriting.
  • Ability and willingness to act as a change agent, to work with people of different motivations and understandings, to include people to think and act in new and different ways, to work effectively through resistance and disagreements.
  • Strong understanding of company goals, objectives, values and behaviors and ability to apply them when resolving a variety of problems and communication and champion them through action and word.
  • Ability to create, format, modify and print documents using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and experience with training and/or manufacturing learning systems and interest in gaining expertise and proficiency in systems as needed to be able to explain and train others.
  • Knowledge and experience with writing, auditing, and revising SOP's and the ability and interest in gaining expertise and proficiency on all manner of SOP's to be able to explain and train others.
  • Communication skills - comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to research and write complex reports and correspondence.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business, Communication, Human Resources, Education or required.
  • Familiarity with adult training and assessment programs preferred.
  • 5-8 years of directly related training coordination and/or instructional/training experience, preferably within a heavy industrial setting preferred.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: None required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. There may be times where the individual will be in production areas to accomplish training objectives. The incumbent must be able to walk to and from job sites. Also, the person may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work. On occasions the incumbent may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While in production areas, the individual will be exposed to all weather conditions, noise, dusts and odors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
