Training Specialist III - High Voltage Electrical Construction

Position Summary:

The Training Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering technical training programs for employees involved in Electrical Distribution and Transmission system construction, maintenance, and operations. This position serves as the subject matter expert for Electrical Distribution, Transmission, and Substation training, with a strong focus on Transformers, Grounding Systems, Medium-Voltage Cable Terminations, High- Voltage EHV Terminations, Cable Splicing, T-body Terminations, and safe work practices. The Training Specialist ensures personnel are trained and qualified to perform work safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and applicable electrical codes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain technical training programs for electrical distribution personnel.
  • Deliver classroom, field, and hands-on practical training sessions.
  • Conduct training on Medium/High voltage Cable Terminations, Cable Splicing, T-body Terminations, Transformers, Grounding Systems, Distribution, Transmission, and Substation systems, Electrical Safety, PPE, and Lockout/Tagout Procedures. Grounding Procedures to Mitigate Induction and Back Feed Hazards. Relay System Training.
  • Evaluate employee competency through written, practical, and field assessments.
  • Maintain training records, qualification documentation, and compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and safety departments to identify training needs.
  • Develop training manuals, lesson plans, presentations, job aids, and practical exercises.
  • Stay current with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, OSHA regulations, and utility best practices.
  • Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development of apprenticeship and workforce development programs.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and vendors to facilitate specialized training programs.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and continuously improve course content and delivery methods.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.


Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Electrician or equivalent trade certification.
  • Experience developing technical curriculum and training materials.
  • Experience in utility, industrial, petrochemical, or electrical contractor environments.
