Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering fundamentals to support project design teams
  • Develop and modify drawings based on previous projects
  • Create drawings from initial sketches
  • Ensure designs meet company and client standards
  • Perform engineering calculations and create cost estimates
  • Research and apply relevant code provisions to designs
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on design methodology and outcomes
  • Prepare and review scopes of work, budgets, and schedules
  • Draft proposals for professional services

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering fundamentals for technical support of project design teams.
  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating prior projects.
  • Create drawings from sketches.
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards.
  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates.
  • Research and apply code provisions to design.
  • Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc.
  • Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments.
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of traffic design experience highly preferred.
  • PE license is required; PTOE is a plus.
  • Prior experience with MDOT preferred.
  • Proficient in MicroStation and AutoCAD with a working knowledge of Synchro, VISSIM, Open Roads, HSM and HCS.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior level staff is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for the purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
