Traffic Design Engineer

Job Description

OTHON, Inc., is currently seeking a Traffic Design Engineer. We are looking for a self-motivated, aggressively enterprising individual wanting to expand their career opportunities within a growing consulting engineering firm. The qualified applicant will be a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed design and calculations in support of signed and sealed plan sheets
  • Provide preliminary layouts, specifications, quantities and final plan sheets
  • Train and mentor less experienced engineers
  • Supervises Junior Engineers, EITs, and CAD technicians
  • Coordinates and works closely with all project disciplines
  • Manages project design schedules, budgets, and scope
  • Responsible for project quality control
  • Coordinates with the client and is responsible for meeting client schedules and budgets


This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as part of a larger team towards a common goal in serving our clients. This position may include providing engineering services for the following primary areas of design:
  • Traffic signals
  • Illumination
  • ITS

Secondary areas:
  • Signing
  • Pavement Markings
  • Intersection Improvements
  • Traffic operational analysis studies


Minimum Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university
  • 10+ years of experience of designing transportation projects in the Civil Engineering field
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/Open Roads and Geopak
  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Able to lead and manage junior staff


Desired Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in Open Roads Designer (ORD)
  • Precertification in TxDOT work categories
