Description
The
Trade Finance Manager will be responsible for developing and managing the trade finance function at Unipec America. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the company's trade finance operations and ensure efficient, compliant, and effective execution of all related activities. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for trade finance matters and collaborate closely with various internal teams to facilitate seamless transaction processing.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement strategies to support smooth business operations and credit risk control while maintaining compliance, with the assistance of our financial partners.
- Manage and improve internal policies and workflows.
- Proactively communicate with all departments to ensure the smooth execution of trade finance transactions.
- Review and validate daily trade finance documents required by banks or counterparties.
- Manage the trade finance team to ensure all financing responsibilities are performed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a strong understanding of international trade, collaborating with counterparties and staying informed about global commodity market dynamics.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to trade finance, and maintain relationships with financial partners to secure the best financing options.
- Liaise with banks and local or overseas counterparts when necessary to ensure the timely receipt and issuance of financial security, payments, and the delivery of barges or cargoes.
- Review contract provisions to ensure they align with trade finance instrument requirements.
- Monitor the trade finance module within the ERP system.
- Review the trade finance risk control system for testing and internal audit purposes.
- Ensure the accuracy and quality of trade finance records.
- Monitor and validate all trade finance transactions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in trade finance, energy commodity trading and/or banking
- Strong understanding of global commodity market dynamics and trade finance instruments
- Ability to manage and mentor a team
- CDCS Certification is highly desired
- Technical and practical knowledge of UCP 600, ISP 98, and URR 525
- Experience working with a global team in multiple time zones
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal teams and external partners
- Ability to analyze complex financial transactions and assess associated risks
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in relevant software and trade finance platforms.
