Job DescriptionTool & Die SuperintendentRESPONSIBLITIES:- Provide key input into the development of the Plant's strategic business plan and identify and track key measurable to support plant business plan goals.
- Develop and drive the development of departmental strategy goals and identify and track key measurable to support the department goals.
- Provide direction and leadership consistent with plant business plan goals.
- Responsible for tool and die department safety, quality, production and delivery objectives.
- Track, monitor and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.
- Assist, as required, plant activities to achieve cost reductions goals.
- Utilize teamwork to develop plant synergy.
- Develop and manage die preventive maintenance schedules, manage spare part levels.
- Drive department manning levels and utilization to assure compliance to budget.
- Provide leadership and promote positive moral and ensure a total team concept.
- Provide the proactive leadership necessary to achieve and maintain a continuous improvement mind set for the team.
- Assure work orders are prioritized appropriately.
- Direct, drive and participate in problem solving methods for related plant and customer issues.
- Lead activities for any outside die work with vendors.
- Drive and support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, etc.)
- Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology preferred. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8) years' experience as a maintenance supervisor and/or Journeyman Tool & Die Maker preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, stamping, and/or assembly processes as required for the position.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:- Strong knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 regulations.
- Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES:- Ability to mentor and teach the team in effective problem solving methods.
- Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Experience as a training facilitator preferred.
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment.
This full-time, salary role is a part of our Tooling department and reports to the Operations Manager.
