Description:Reporting to the Manager, TIDES Program, the TIDES Educator is a clinical and educational leader supporting the implementation of the TIDES program across Unity Health Toronto. The TIDES Educator translates evidence into practice through high-quality education that advances trauma-informed care, workplace violence prevention, staff safety, and patient care.
Working collaboratively with operational leaders, clinical educators, physicians, Workplace Health, Safety and Wellness, Security, and interprofessional teams, the TIDES Educator delivers education, provides expert consultation and coaching, develops internal educator and responder capacity, and supports the integration and sustainability of TIDES practices across diverse clinical and non-clinical environments.
The TIDES Educator also contributes to curriculum development, program evaluation, quality improvement, and knowledge translation to ensure education remains evidence-informed, effective, and aligned with organizational priorities and emerging needs. The successful candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, facilitation skills, and a passion for adult education, and will thrive in a role that combines independent practice with cross-site collaboration and organizational change. The position requires regular travel across Unity Health sites and occasional evening and weekend work to support operational and educational needs.
Accountabilities:- Designs, delivers, and evaluates evidence-informed TIDES education using adult learning, simulation, experiential learning, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Provides education and competency assessment for TIDES participants, including TIDES Coaches and Responders, and participates in the Train-the-Trainer program, including mentoring and assessing educators.
- Provides expert consultation, coaching, and practice support to leaders, educators, physicians, and interprofessional teams related to de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and workplace safety.
- Supports the translation of TIDES education into clinical and operational practice by identifying implementation barriers, reinforcing learning, and supporting practice change.
- Develops and maintains educational curricula, resources, competency assessments, and certification processes while maintaining fidelity to the TIDES curriculum.
- Builds organizational capacity through mentorship, communities of practice, and collaboration with educators, leaders, and other TIDES program partners.
- Contributes to program evaluation, quality improvement, and knowledge translation activities, using learner feedback, competency outcomes, and organizational data to inform continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners, including the CAMH TIDES team, to support program implementation, consistency, and sustainability.
- Supports organizational priorities related to workplace violence prevention, psychological safety, Accreditation Canada standards, and trauma-informed care.
- Represents the TIDES Program on committees, working groups, and organizational initiatives as required.
- Performs cross-functional and other duties as assigned and/or requested.
Qualifications: - Master's degree in Nursing, Education, Health Sciences, or a related field required.
- Regulated Health Professional in good standing required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive clinical experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in interprofessional education and collaboration.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing behavioural emergencies and/or de-escalation.
- Demonstrated expertise in adult education, curriculum development, and facilitation in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, equity principles, workplace violence prevention, and psychological safety.
- Experience with simulation-based education and/or competency assessment is an asset.
- Knowledge of quality improvement, research methodologies, and evaluation methods.
- Demonstrated ability to translate evidence into practice and support practice change in complex healthcare environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within interprofessional teams and across multiple sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and education technologies.

- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
- Certificate in Adult Education and/or simulation instructor training is an asset.
