Full Job Description
Hexcel is seeking a Thermoplastics Process Engineer to support manufacturing operations, process optimization, new product development, and continuous improvement initiatives within our thermoplastics manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize thermoplastic manufacturing processes, including profile extrusion and compounding operations.
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing procedures, process specifications, process plans, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for thermoplastics projects across the facility.
  • Partner with production teams to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Support product costing, pricing, and manufacturing feasibility assessments for new and existing products.
  • Train and mentor operations personnel on processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing process optimization and statistical methods.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and U.S. customers to support engineering and business objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in thermoplastics manufacturing, with profile extrusion and/or twin-screw compounding experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tooling design, mold flow analysis, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing scale-up, process optimization, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience with cost modeling, quoting, manufacturing routing, and BOM management strongly preferred.
  • Project management experience and the ability to serve as a technical lead are a plus; MS Project experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
Complete salary range for this role: $76,550 - $135,000
