The Opportunity:

Make your mark while you grow your career! Canadian Natural is looking for a passionate, self-starting Engineer to join our Thermal Facilities team. You have an opportunity to work with a dynamic group of professionals where you will be responsible for identifying, recommending, and executing facility optimization opportunities.

  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop strong relationships with Operations and other teams within the company to increase role effectiveness
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve operational issues and optimize facility operations
  • Initiate and/or participate in engineering and economic studies for process improvement and optimization
  • Manage engineering changes from conception through completion using Canadian Natural's Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Follow Canadian Natural's Project Management Methodology (PMM) to manage capital projects from initiation through closeout
  • Traveling to site for day and multi-day visits as required
  • Follow applicable codes, guidelines, directives and regulations and work with regulatory agencies (AER, ABSA etc.) as required to ensure facilities are in compliance

What You Bring to the Role:
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in good standing or eligibility for registration with APEGA
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to build consensus across teams
  • Accepts ownership, is accountable, and delivers on commitments
  • Solid organizational and analytical skills to be able to manage several projects concurrently
  • Additional positive attributes for the position:
    • Field-based operational or engineering support experience including facility optimization and troubleshooting
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Engineering software applications (i.e. HYSYS)
    • Experience in facilities process safety through Process Hazard Analysis methodology (i.e. HAZOP, "What if") and Management of Change (MOC) process
