ResponsibilitiesTheHealth and Financial Solutions team is looking for aTest Engineertosupport the testing lifecycle for Medicare claims processing systemsoperatingon a legacy mainframe platform. This role requiresexpertiseinvalidatingDurable Medical Equipment (DME)claim workflows, ensuring compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) regulations, and managing test cases within TestRail. The engineer will collaborate with business analysts, developers, and operations to design, execute, and automate test suites for both functional and regression testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, andmaintainautomated test scripts for critical Medicare claim workflows in the mainframe environment (batch and online).
- Integrate automated test suites with TestRail for execution tracking and reporting.
- Continuously assess regression suites for automation opportunities to improve test coverage, speed, and repeatability.
- Develop, manage, and execute test cases within TestRail aligned to Medicare claims workflows and CMS requirements.
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for mainframe batch and online applications.
- Validate COBOL/JCL jobs, DB2/VSAM database updates, and downstream claim adjudication outputs.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and operations to resolve defects and ensure test coverage.
- Create andmaintaintest data to simulate Medicare claim scenarios (inpatient, outpatient, Part A, Part B, adjustments, rejections, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with CMS testing standards and audit documentation.
- Track and report test results, defects, and quality metrics in TestRail and JIRA (or equivalent defect tracking tool).
- Participate in defect triage meetings and root cause analysis.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- 2 years with BS/BA, 6 years no degree.
- Proficiencyin mainframe environments,includingJCL,COBOL (reading and debugging),DB2 SQL queries,andVSAM file handling.
- Provenexperiencewith test case management and orchestration toolsincludingQuickTest Pro,Open TextUnified Functional Testing (UFT),andTestRail,to design, executemaintainautomated testcases.
- Familiarity with Medicare claims processing,including837/835 EDI transactions,claim adjudication logic, andCMS compliancerequirements.
- Experience using defect tracking toolssuch asJira,or equivalent platforms to manage defects and testing workflow.
- Solid understanding of Agile andHybrid Agile/Waterfalltesting methodologies,with the ability to adapt test strategies to evolving delivery models.
- Ability to interpret and analyze business and system requirements,translating them into detailed and reusabletest cases and automation scripts.
- Strong attention to detail,with disciplined documentation practices to supportaudit and regulatory compliancestandards.
- US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated testing frameworks for mainframe (e.g., CA Verify, Compuware Test Automation, REXX scripting).
- Knowledge of CMS regulatory changes (e.g., ICD-10, HIPAA,DMEPOS).
- Prior experience in healthcare payer systems or CMS audit environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD integration withtest management software.
Target Salary Range$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
