Description

SAIC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Test Engineer to support planning, execution, direction, and reporting for experimental, developmental, and operational testing of advanced Navy capabilities. This role contributes to test activities conducted across Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), operational shipboard, and virtual environments, as applicable. The candidate will work with cross-functional technical and operational teams to help evaluate system performance, document results, identify issues, and support successful delivery of capabilities to fleet and mission stakeholders. The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to translate test objectives, technical findings, and operational impacts across engineering, program leadership, and executive audiences.

Work is performed ON-SITE in San Diego, CA. Required to be local to area. Travel required up to 10% (CONUS/OCONUS).

JOB DUTIES:
  • Support test planning, coordination, execution, and reporting for experimental, developmental, and operational test events across hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), operational, and virtual environments.
  • Assist in the development of test objectives, procedures, schedules, data collection plans, and reporting documentation to ensure test activities are organized, traceable, and aligned to program goals.
  • Support test direction activities by coordinating with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and program leadership during test execution to ensure issues, risks, and results are properly captured.
  • Document test results, observations, anomalies, and lessons learned by preparing clear written reports and briefing materials for technical, operational, and executive audiences.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams of engineers, developers, operators, and program personnel to support integrated testing of emerging capabilities across relevant environments.
  • Support testing activities involving cloud platforms, containerized technologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines, as applicable to program objectives.
  • Assist with issue tracking and follow-up actions by helping identify test gaps, documenting risks, coordinating resolution efforts, and supporting continuous improvement across test events.
  • Communicate technical and operational test information clearly across multiple audiences to ensure stakeholders understand test status, findings, impacts, and recommended next steps.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree to be taken into consideration.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance to start
  • Experience with cloud platforms, containerization technologies, DevOps practices, and/or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting planning, execution, direction, documentation, and reporting for experimental, developmental, or operational testing.
  • Experience assisting with test documentation, test reports, briefings, after-action materials, and other deliverables used to capture results, observations, issues, and risks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and coordinate cross-functional technical and operational teams in support of complex test events.
  • Demonstrated leadership or management capability within team-of-teams environments across engineering, development, operational, and program management stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information for operational, program, and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, communicate status, and support multiple stakeholders in a dynamic program environment.

DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience supporting Navy, DoD, or operational test environments.
  • Experience supporting test activities in HWIL, operational, shipboard, and/or virtual environments.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
