Test Engineer (QA)

Manassas, VA | Full-Time | Onsite

Salary Range: $75,000-$100,000 annually, based on skills and experience

NAL Technologies (Naltec) is seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to join our Quality Testing Team in Manassas, Virginia. This full-time, onsite position will support laboratory and field testing of our satellite tracking systems, communication devices, and supporting software, with a focus on validating product reliability, stability, performance, and ruggedness.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and working closely with engineers throughout the product testing and validation process. The position offers exposure to electrical, environmental, functional, and field testing across both existing products and products currently under development.

What You'll Do
• Perform electrical, environmental, and functional testing on existing and developing products with guidance from engineering staff.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop comprehensive test plans addressing physical environments, circuit functionality, data processing requirements, product requirements, and certifications.
• Assist software engineers with developing test cases to validate electrical systems and operational modes.
• Support the development of laboratory equipment scripts used for test automation.
• Assist with constructing and operating electrical circuits and mechanical test fixtures.
• Set up probes, laboratory equipment, and mechanical fixtures for testing.
• Execute and monitor testing in the engineering lab, outdoors, and along locally defined driving routes.
• Support certification testing at local test laboratories.
• Troubleshoot and document hardware and software issues identified during testing.
• Generate test data, graphs, tables, and images for engineering and customer presentations.
• Help maintain, organize, and manage calibration of engineering laboratory equipment, soldering stations, and electronic components.
• Build and manage test kits for scheduled offsite testing.
• Travel as needed to support field testing at customer locations within the continental United States and internationally.

What We're Looking For
• Associate degree in Engineering or a related field with approximately 2-4 years of relevant experience; or 5-10 years of directly related practical experience testing, handling, assembling, and troubleshooting systems.
• Ability and willingness to learn and operate laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, signal generators, vector network analyzers, vector signal analyzers, data acquisition modules, spectrum analyzers, and programmable power supplies/loads.
• Ability to write clear and accurate test plans and reports for internal teams, external laboratories, and customers.
• Ability to read and apply MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 requirements.
• Ability to load firmware.
• Familiarity with IP networking is a plus.
