PeopleTec is currently seeking a Test Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location.

 

We are seeking a Test Engineer to support the Army’s Scaled Hypersonics (SHY) Product Office, part of Advanced Fires Project Office (AFPO). The Test Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and assessing hypersonic-related test activities to ensure effective system evaluation and delivery of advanced fires capabilities. This position plays a critical role in translating requirements into test objectives, designing and coordinating live fire and developmental test events, and analyzing results to inform acquisition and operational decisions.  The selected candidate will work as part of AFPO’s Test & Evaluation Section, alongside radar and fires test engineers, to provide integrated assessments of advanced weapon systems. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate results effectively to senior leaders and stakeholders across the Army and Joint Services.

 

Duties:

 

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute test plans and procedures for system evaluations, including ground and flight testing.
  • Support the development and review of Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), test objectives, and test requirements.
  • Coordinate with Army test ranges, laboratories, and external agencies to plan and conduct live fire and developmental test events.
  • Monitor test execution, collect and analyze test data, and prepare technical reports and recommendations for program leadership.
  • Assess system performance across lethality, survivability, reliability, and integration with supporting platforms.
  • Identify risks, issues, and gaps in test planning or execution, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Provide technical input to acquisition and system engineering processes, ensuring test data informs capability development and decision-making.
  • Participate in working groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical interchange meetings, and after-action reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level briefings summarizing test activities, outcomes, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with radar and fires test engineers in the Test & Evaluation Section to ensure holistic program-level assessments.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience conducting missile system testing (developmental, operational, or live fire) within the DoD or a defense-related environment.
  • Strong background in test engineering methodologies, including test planning, instrumentation, data collection, and post-test analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute detailed test plans, procedures, and safety reviews in accordance with DoD and Army T&E standards.
  • Proven experience coordinating with DoD test ranges and working within established range safety and data collection requirements.
  • Hands-on technical expertise with missile system performance evaluation, including lethality, reliability, survivability, and integration with supporting platforms.
  • Proficiency in analyzing large datasets, conducting data reduction and performance assessments, and generating clear, actionable technical reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary T&E team in a fast-paced acquisition environment.
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Travel: 20%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required with preference given to current TS/SCI clearance holders
  • Ability to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with system-level test and evaluation of integrated air and missile defense architectures, including interoperability assessments across sensors, launchers, and battle management systems.
  • Familiarity with modeling & simulation (M&S) tools and their integration into live test campaigns for pre-test predictions and post-test validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or contribute to failure investigations, anomaly resolution, and root-cause analysis following test events.
  • Experience supporting test readiness reviews (TRR), safety reviews, and independent test assessments.
  • Knowledge of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF), Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) pathways, and Army T&E policies/regulations.
  • Strong background in data visualization, advanced analytics, or specialized instrumentation for missile flight testing.
  • Prior experience briefing senior DoD leadership or test community stakeholders on test outcomes, risks, and recommendations.
