Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Test Engineer - Level 2 to join our MEP Team in Goleta, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

As a test engineer, you will design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment. You will plan and arrange the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. You will compile data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. You will be responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Perform product testing, working in close collaboration with all parts of the Operating Unit for the test planning, coordinating, setup, execution, data reduction, test reporting, and post-data processing.
  • Perform integration of products to test tooling, software, equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Support with test data collection, post-test data review, reporting, and support test requirements verification.
  • Support technical writing to produce test documentation.
  • Participate and present in internal and external (customer) reviews.
  • Leverage modern tools and methods to reduce cost and schedule of product testing.
  • Accountable to the Operating Unit Operations Test Engineering Manager for meeting the Operations Test Engineering safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations of internal and external customers within entire product value streams.
  • Must be able to support working multiple shifts; ie: 1st shift 7am to 4:45pm and 2nd shift 2:30pm to Midnight


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline with 2 years of test experience; OR Master's Degree in STEM
  • Experience troubleshooting test equipment, test tooling, and test harnesses.
  • Experience with testing automation or other lean manufacturing/testing methodologies.
  • Demonstrated technical writing and/or procedure development skills.
  • Ability to travel between the Oxnard, CA, and Goleta, CA sites and travel to support customers, and needed, approximately 10%.
  • U.S. Citizenship


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years test engineering specific experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in test automation software (i.e., LabVIEW or other) for product testing preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in measuring and controlling various electronic components such as motors, actuators, positional sensing devices, load transducers, etc is preferred.
  • Experience in aerospace or aeronautical industry is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills - presentation, oral, written, and listening.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to organize and prioritize job assignments and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in an integrated team and adapt to change and dynamic requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in methods such as Jira & Confluence

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
