Full Job Description
PE Systems is seeking a Test Engineer, Journeyman to support the strategic and operational success of NC3 (Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications) programs at Hanscom AFB, MA. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of NC3 missions, policies, and objectives, and will play a critical role in advising management on the effectiveness and sustainability of NC3 operations.

General Function:

  • Document the review, test concept development, test methodology development, test plan development, test execution, and test reporting, data reduction and analysis, and end-user operational testing.
  • Identify, propose, and implement opportunities, novel processes, procedures, and methods to expedite the completion of required testing.
  • Apply Design of Experiments methods to plan and conduct test
  • Independently prepare (or direct others in the preparation of) test evaluation and success criteria, computation/analyses, specifications, cost estimates test plans, and technical reports in the specific area of technical expertise.
  • Select and apply engineering and test techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problem, data, performance, specification compliance, security, resiliency, or other features of the work.
  • Review and evaluate the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from accomplishment of test engineering tasks.
  • Devise new and innovative approaches to problems encountered, and accomplish assigned tasks with efficiency, timeliness, and thoroughness.
  • Evaluate the configuration, capability, operational relevance, and limitations of test environments and ensure they are properly available for the thorough testing of software releases (e.g. fault insertion/fault identification).
  • Deconflict schedule conflicts between multiple releases and provide high quality analysis and recommendations to the program test lead.
  • Perform the System Testing and Evaluation Specialist (671) Core/Additional Tasks and meet the KSAs as outlined in DoD Cyber Workforce Framework - DoDI 8140.01, DoDI 8140.02, and DoDM 8140.03.
  • Apply and support digital engineering concepts and techniques throughout the program lifecycle, such as providing technical support to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to incorporate communications systems and Modular Open System Architectures (e.g. Open Mission Systems) on host platforms with an NC3 mission to enable NC3 modernization. Analysis considerations should include SWAP-C, HW/SW processing environments, and technology limitations.

Education/Certifications/Experience/Skills:

  • MA Degree, OR, BA Degree and 3-10 years of experience related to the position requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a government security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must be able to transport self to various facility sites, as If using own motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.


Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position is estimated between $103K-$113K. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. PE Systems considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
