Test Engineer III
Longmont, CO | Full-Time | 1st Shift | Engineering

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000

Position Summary

This role performs a variety of engineering tasks involving automated test equipment (ATE) and functional test stations in support of product sustaining engineering. The engineer will support customer focus teams (CFTs), collaborate with customers to establish test requirements, and support assemblies and manufacturing production goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all ESD and Board Handling requirements; follow Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling protocols based on component MSL ratings
  • Install and improve customer-specific functional test stations and programs for both customer-furnished equipment and internally generated processes
  • Serve as an extension of CFTs within the site, providing support to manufacturing processes and customers throughout production execution
  • Expand and/or install custom functional and ATE board and system-level testers and programs
  • Program and maintain flying probe programs
  • Develop tester documentation and procedures
  • Maintain and update existing programs, ICT, and functional test fixtures as needed
  • Support production staff in achieving monthly production goals
  • Conduct failure analysis including replication, root cause troubleshooting, validation within the failing population, and implementation of solutions
  • Perform sustaining engineering and tester capacity analysis, manufacturing failure data analysis, and improvement plan presentations
  • Support and follow all applicable ISO and Quality Management System standards (quality, environment, health, safety, and security)
  • Support all 6S objectives

Qualifications

Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency with electronic manufacturing systems (EMS)
  • Ability to train to IPC-A-610 standards
  • Skilled with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, signal generators, and signal analyzers
  • Ability to read schematics and debug non-functional product
  • Exposure to common programming languages and platforms: C++, C#, Java, Perl, AutoIt, Python, LabVIEW, and/or Visual Basic
  • Understanding of computer architecture, Windows OS, and networking; Linux familiarity a plus
  • Knowledge of test equipment communication protocols: GPIB, RS-232, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.
  • Component, board, and system-level debug and analysis skills
  • Circuit analysis skills (analog, digital, and RF) to support technician debug
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs

Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience in a similar environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing test tools: Flying Probe, ICT, Boundary Scan, and functional test methodologies at board and system level
  • General knowledge of SMT and Box-Build manufacturing
  • Exposure to PCB layout principles and CAD/PCB viewer tools
  • Familiarity with common electronic manufacturing documentation and equipment
