Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION: This role is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and continuous improvement of test systems, processes, and analytics. The engineer serves as a technical lead and mentor, supporting both new product introduction (NPI) and volume production through robust testing strategies and process discipline. GENERAL FUNCTIONS / SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Lean tools. 2. Be able to explain key concepts of the Quality Policy, Quality Goals, and complete requirements from ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems) training. 4. Support and uphold cybersecurity standards across all software assets. 5. Architect and implement automated test systems for PCBA and/or final assemblies, integrating hardware interfaces, software frameworks (e.g., Python, C#, LabVIEW), and control systems. 6. Develop test strategies leveraging ICT, Flying Probe, AOI, and RF functional testing, ensuring complete coverage across analog, digital, and RF domains. 7. Design and maintain custom test fixtures, including programming of embedded test routines, relay logic, and device programming flows. 8. Own test data ingestion pipelines, real-time dashboards (e.g., Power BI), and database integration (SQL, MES). 9. Analyze production data to drive yield improvement, false failure reduction, and root cause investigations. 10. Collaborate cross-functionally to adjust control limits, define golden unit criteria, and improve process capability (Cp/Cpk). 11. Support SMT/TH process integration for test compatibility, including DFT reviews, test point accessibility, and DFM input. 12. Validate test system readiness through pilot runs, fixture bring-up, and qualification reports. 13. Interface with Manufacturing Engineering to align test time, process flow, and station configuration. 14. Participate in design reviews, contributing expertise in test compatibility, fixture use and reusability, and programming scope. 15. Lead or support the transition of test systems from engineering to production, ensuring scalability and documentation. 16. Provide technical direction on sustaining test issues, part obsolescence, and test software maintenance. 17. Mentor junior engineers and technicians on test development, debug methodology, and troubleshooting best practices. 18. Maintain internal documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all test-related activities. 19. Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce test cycle times, increase automation, and elevate documentation clarity. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent • 5+ years experience with software development or test-automation engineering. • 8-10 years experience as Test Engineer • Expert knowledge of the SQL database, ability to execute queries and update tables • Expert knowledge of test programming with LabVIEW, C#, and VISA • Proficient knowledge of RF test equipment (signal generators, signal analyzers, power meters) • Solid understanding of component level debugging of RF circuits, cable repairs, and test fixture design • Soldering skills a plus • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ability to operate test equipment related to job. Able to use phone; communicate using speech; hearing and vision skills; sit or stand for moderate periods.
