Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.
Blue Origin is seeking a Test Engineer II to join the AI&T team on the Terawave program. In this role you will develop and execute verification and functional test procedures on the Vehicle Test Bench (VTB), Flatsat, and HIL environment, working with increasing autonomy alongside senior engineers. You will execute test campaigns, capture anomalies, and contribute to continuous improvement of the test program in a high-tempo spacecraft development environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Develop and execute VTB and HIL test procedures under the guidance of senior test engineers; drive procedures through internal review and release.
- Set up bench configurations, operate GSE, and execute assigned test sequences; monitor real-time telemetry and document results.
- Capture test anomalies with sufficient detail for root cause investigation; track anomaly status and support disposition.
- Author test reports summarizing results, anomalies, and open items for assigned test activities.
- Incorporate procedure red-line mark-ups and update documentation following test execution.
- Support test campaign planning: coordinate bench availability, hardware readiness, and test equipment configuration.
- Coordinate with subsystem engineers on test objectives and pass/fail criteria.
- Maintain ESD discipline, bench cleanliness, and configuration accountability during test operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve test procedures, reduce cycle time, or increase test coverage; escalate recommendations to senior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 2+ years of experience in hardware test, system integration, or functional test in aerospace, defense, electronics, or a closely related field.
- Experience developing or executing formal test procedures in a controlled documentation environment.
- Ability to operate standard test equipment and interpret data against defined pass/fail criteria.
- Familiarity with anomaly reporting and configuration management processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write clear, complete test reports.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with spacecraft, satellite, or launch vehicle test at bench, component, or subsystem level.
- Background with HIL or Flatsat test environments.
- Familiarity with automated test tools (Python scripting, LabVIEW, GSEOS, COSMOS, or similar).
- Experience with data bus protocols: SpaceWire, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, or RS-422.
- Familiarity with ESD controls and aerospace workmanship standards.
- Experience using PDM/PLM systems for procedure control (Windchill or equivalent).
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $90,934.00 - $127,307.25WA applicants is $99,201.00 - $138,880.35
