Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Test Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing test procedures for IEM products and components. This role ensures product quality and performance by analyzing test results, identifying issues, and leading extensive troubleshooting efforts, while supporting the development of robust test processes and driving continuous improvement across the test organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Design and develop test procedures and protocols.
  • Execute functional and electrical testing on products and components.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve product issues.
  • Analyze test data and identify trends, issues, and root causes.
  • Develop and improve testing methods and processes.
  • Support troubleshooting and failure analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and testing procedures.
  • Maintain accurate test documentation and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Relay protection and trip function testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve wiring errors, component failures, and control logic issues.
  • Recommend upgrades or new test technologies to improve accuracy, capability, and efficiency.
  • FWT Support (Factory Witness Testing).
  • Provide technical explanations, perform test demonstrations, and address questions or issues that arise during FWT events.


SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL

None.

COMPETENCIES
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and testing methods.
  • Experience developing test plans, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience with automated test systems (LabVIEW, Python, NI, etc.)
  • Familiarity with PLC systems or embedded systems testing.
  • Background in high-reliability industries (aerospace, defense, medical devices).
  • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Clear and professional communication.
  • Safety-conscious behavior with strict adherence to NFPA 70E and departmental safety standards.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 4+ years or experience in testing, engineering, or related field.

Lifting: Frequently lift to 50 lbs.

Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, and climb.

Vision: Long periods of close work on a computer screen; ability to see small or detailed items.

Mental Demands: Interpret, analyze, research, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environment: Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise/vibration, hazards, dust, and fumes.
