Job Description
The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of real-time, closed-loop HWIL capabilities for test-bed programs. This early-career role (≈1+ year experience) provides hands-on exposure to HWIL integration, troubleshooting of test equipment, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams while building a foundation for future responsibilities.
What You Will Be Doing
• Assist in integrating and testing air vehicle software, firmware, and hardware within the HWIL facility.
• Support the installation and debugging of stimulation equipment, connectors, timing modules, and associated test hardware.
• Operate and troubleshoot HWIL-related lab equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition systems, etc.).
• Contribute to program meetings, prepare status updates, and interface with systems, software, mechanical, and test engineers.
• Participate in verification and validation activities for subsystems and overall system performance.
• Develop and maintain simple test procedures, documentation, and issue tracking records.

Basic Qualifications
• Education & Experience: 1+ years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain an Active Secret clearance.
• Technical Foundations: Understanding of digital, analog, and mixed-signal electronic components; familiarity with basic circuit analysis.
• Lab Proficiency: Experience using test equipment to diagnose hardware/software failures.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to interpret customer needs, work with the team to develop technical solutions, contribute to product backlogs, and provide clear feedback.
Desired skills
• Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with Missile 6-DOF simulation design and/or HWIL simulation.
• Understanding of pre-flight system performance assessment and post-flight verification concepts.
• Familiarity with real-time, closed-loop HWIL simulations.
• Basic experience with flight software integration and verification.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,400 - $129,260. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
