Could you be the full-time Siganlling Test & Commissioning Tester in Toronto, ON we're looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your testing and commissioning expertise in a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of railway signalling technologies, helping us deliver safe, efficient, and reliable transportation solutions. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (engineering, project management, and field operations), perform testing and commissioning activities, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and much more.

You'll specifically take care of field testing and commissioning activities, but also develop and review test procedures and technical reports.

We'll look to you for:
  • Preparing and executing testing activities for railway signalling technologies in alignment with Alstom's policies and standards.
  • Developing and reviewing Test & Commissioning (T&C) procedures to meet contractual requirements.
  • Executing field testing activities according to defined procedures and project instructions.
  • Adhering to testing schedules and plans for both internal and external customers.
  • Performing field test and commissioning activities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Recording test results accurately and preparing technical test reports for customer submission.
  • Ensuring proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment, including calibration and tracking.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and reporting any identified risks to management.
  • Reading, understanding, and creating test plans, procedures, and technical documentation.

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (Electrical/Electronics/Computer/Embedded Systems).
  • At least 8+ years of experience in the rail signalling industry, with knowledge of signalling and ideally signal maintenance experience.
  • Direct experience with the Metrolinx system and operating environment.
  • Knowledge of conventional rail signalling (fixed block) and related testing elements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings (e.g., Book of Plans, schematics, relay logic).
  • At least 5 years of hands-on testing experience with signalling systems.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing test procedures and technical reports.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) is an asset.
  • Metrolinx Personal Track Safety certification is an asset.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Flexibility to work full-time on night shifts, weekends, and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Fit to work in the field in live rail environment.
  • Work location could be across different rail corridors and flexibility to travel is a requirement.

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $95,000 - $115,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
