Full Job Description
About this position

SeeScan is seeking a Test and Measurement Manager to lead our incoming material and mechanical inspection team and to build out our metrology and electronic/PCBA inspection capabilities. This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership: you will personally measure, inspect, and problem-solve at the bench, and use that credibility to set expectations and direction for the mechanical inspection team, develop a process-driven approach to PCBA inspection, and mature our metrology program. You will work as a close partner to our Quality Manager, who is focused on developing our Quality Management System, and you will operate with significant autonomy in shaping the technical direction of test and measurement across the department.

This is a fully onsite position located in Kearny Mesa.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $135,000 annually.

This range represents a good faith estimate based on the qualifications we expect to find in a successful candidate. Actual compensation offered may be less or greater than this estimate based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, our assessment of your ability to bring value to our organization.

We offer

  • A position within an established company that has over 40 years of experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Traditional and Roth 401(k) investment options, with partial company matching contribution
  • Flexible Paid Time Off plan with no cap or "use it or lose it" requirement

In your application, include your resume and a thoughtful cover letter explaining why you are the ideal candidate for this position. We are looking for a long-term, in-house teammate to join us, not a contractor or consultant.

In this position, you will

  • Provide direct leadership to the incoming material and mechanical inspection team, setting clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards
  • Design and implement a process-driven PCBA inspection program, including documented procedures, work instructions, and training, to support our dedicated PCBA inspector and future hires
  • Own and mature SeeScan's metrology program, including calibration systems, measurement system analysis (gauge R&R), and equipment and method selection
  • Identify gaps in current inspection and measurement practices and build practical, sustainable processes to close them
  • Apply strong critical thinking to root-cause measurement discrepancies and quality escapes, and drive systemic corrective action
  • Partner closely with the Quality Manager and Engineering to align inspection methods with product requirements across electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Lead by example on the bench, personally demonstrating sound measurement, inspection, and critical-thinking practices to raise the skill level of the technicians around you

Your background

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in metrology, quality engineering, or inspection/test operations in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, or organizing a technical team
  • Strong organizational and process-development skills, with a track record of creating structure where none previously existed
  • Familiarity with PCBA inspection practices (e.g., IPC-A-610) or strong aptitude to build this expertise
  • Personally skilled with precision measurement tools and techniques (CMM, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, and similar) and comfortable performing inspections yourself, not just overseeing them
  • Excellent critical thinking, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Comfortable working autonomously and setting priorities with limited day-to-day direction

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in electronics or hardware manufacturing
  • IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification, or substantial hands-on PCBA inspection experience
  • Six Sigma, Lean, or other continuous improvement credential
  • Experience standing up a quality function, team, or process area from an early stage

Notes

  • No recruiters, contractors, or consultants, please
  • No relocation assistance or visa sponsorships available for this position
