Full Job Description
About the job

This is a fully remote position based in Hawaii, covering Hawaii and Guam. This person will build the market from the front: serving as the technical voice in design meetings, the problem-solver on job sites, and the relationship every building owner and contractor remembers for future projects.

We are looking for an engineer or technical salesperson in the MEP world who wants to move out of the office and into a career combining technical work, sales, and business development. If you have an engineering foundation, a can-do attitude, and the drive to own a territory instead of a task list, this is a rare chance to grow with a company that will back you.

Why Hawaii, and why now

Hawaii is one of the best heat pump water heating markets in the country. Commercial electricity is the most expensive in the US, there is no natural gas infrastructure across most of the state, and Hawaii's 100% Renewable Portfolio Standard by 2045 means building owners are already planning for full electrification. Mild year-round weather means our air-source systems run at peak efficiency. The value proposition closes itself once a customer sees the math written down. Being able to provide documented, real-time data, proving the capabilities of efficiency and performance will drive success in these markets. Along with delivering white glove service to the engineering, contractor and wholesaler communities, will ensure years of success. What the market needs is a person on the ground to make it happen.

Principal duties:

Sales and business development
  • Own the commercial new-construction sales process end to end, from early design through bidding, award, and owner support after the sale.
  • Get Nyle specified early. Build direct relationships with MEP engineering firms, energy consultants, and Hawaii Energy program staff so Nyle lands in the basis of design before a competitor does.
  • Prospect and open new opportunities across resort and hospitality, military housing, university housing, and multifamily construction in Hawaii and Guam.
  • Support and grow relationships with Nyle's existing customers across the islands.
  • Manage your pipeline and follow up promptly and thoroughly on every opportunity. Nyle uses HubSpot CRM.
  • Coordinate closely with our distributors on quoting and fulfillment.
  • Attend industry events to build leads and deepen customer relationships.
  • Travel within the territory to meet prospects and customers, including neighbor islands and Guam.

Technical and field support
  • Escalate deeper technical work to a licensed refrigeration technician or a Nyle applications engineer when a job exceeds your scope. Knowing where that line sits is part of the role, and we will help you build that judgment.
  • Provide light field technical support: equipment startup support, contractor guidance during installation, and troubleshooting within your depth.
  • Build working relationships with local service entities so trained technician support is available when a customer needs it.
  • Support inside sales and applications engineering with system design input, design review, and quotes as needed.
  • Feed the field experiences back to product development to help shape improvements and configurations that set Nyle apart.

What you'll grow into

You do not need to know all of this on day one. You need the technical foundation to learn it fast and the communication skills to hold a room while you do:
  • Central commercial heat pump water heating system design, sizing, and load profiling.
  • Refrigerant and certification fluency for conversations with engineers and building officials.
  • Incentive and rebate pathways, including the Hawaii Energy Business Rebate and the federal Clean Energy tax credit.

Requirements

Core:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
  • 1 to 4 years of experience in the MEP space (mechanical or plumbing design, HVAC, commercial construction, or equipment applications).
  • A genuine interest in building a career that combines engineering and sales.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. You will be the sole Nyle voice in your meetings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a self-directed, can-do attitude. This is a remote role with no local team.
  • Comfort with hand tools and basic electrical testing for light field work.
  • Based in Hawaii (Oʻahu preferred) or willing to relocate before starting.
  • Willingness to travel within the territory and to Bangor, Maine for training and company events.

A plus:
  • Exposure to commercial HVAC, commercial plumbing, heat pumps, or refrigeration.
  • Familiarity with the commercial design-bid-build process.
  • CRM experience.
  • Existing relationships in the Hawaii MEP, contractor, or facilities community.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation with base plus commission and meaningful upside as you build the territory.
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401(k), HSA
  • A ground-floor role in an established territory with direct support and real room to grow.
  • 100% remote work, based in Hawaii.
  • A flexible, professional, low-ego, compassionate team.
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Short Term & Long Term Disability
  • Training & Development
  • Wellness Resources
