Position Overview:The Tekla Virtual Design Manager is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and integration of structural models using Tekla Structures and related BIM/VDC tools. This role bridges engineering, detailing, fabrication, and construction by ensuring that digital models accurately reflect design intent and are fully constructible, coordinated, and fabrication-ready. The position supports project teams across pre-construction, construction, and close-out phases while driving BIM standards, workflows, and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities- Establish and maintain Tekla Structures modeling standards, templates, customized components and content libraries for steel detailers
- Manage and train team on best practices and software updates
- Lead BIM coordination meetings and manage clash detection to resolve conflicts between steel and other trades
- Work with the fabrication manager to produce CNC files (STP, DXF, IGS, NC, ENC. NC1 Files) that integrate directly with fabrication equipment
- Establish and enforce BIM execution plans, modeling standards, and workflows
- Perform or oversee clash detection and constructability reviews
- Mentor and support Tekla detailers, modelers, and VDC staff
- Support 3D coordination, 4D sequencing, and model-based planning
- Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency, and process improvement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for structural BIM/VDC on assigned projects
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management preferred
- Strong understanding of structural systems and construction documents
- Knowledge of Tekla PowerFab, Trimble Connect, FabStation Holo Lens and Revitzo
- Knowledge of Trimble X7 (Field Scanner) field scanning procedure and process
- 5+ years of Tekla modeling, detailing, or VDC experience preferred
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, steel detailers, fabrication managers, field superintendents and external trades to solve constructability issues
- Deep understanding of construction sequences, AISC/AWS codes, and misc. / structural steel detailing preferred

Salary Description
$140,000 to $160,000 annually
