Full Job Description
(IV) With direction from the Manager, supports, (V) oversees, (VI) provides senior leadership in the evaluation of new and emerging transmission technology developments in support of GTC and the Member Systems that have the potential to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, enhance reliability, and align with the Corporation's objectives. (IV) Participates with project teams and subcommittees to support, (V, VI) lead efforts in the adoption and integration of new and emerging transmission technologies.

(IV) Represent GTC and coordinate GTC's participation in EPRI. (V) Coordinates GTC participation in assigned EPRI programs, gathers participant feedback, tracks project value, and supports budget recommendations. (VI) Manage GTC's EPRI participation, prioritize GTC's R&D portfolio investments, and develops budget recommendations. (IV, V, VI) Collaborates closely with Green Power EMC, Member Systems, and OPC/GSOC as well as external industry groups to ensure alignment and effective communication in the development and execution of technology initiatives. Leverage knowledge of engineering principles and industry practices in performing assignments related to technology implementation and transmission policy. (IV) Support, the development of analysis, business cases, and recommendations for management review regarding current and future technology advancements. (V) Provide analysis and recommendations to Executive Management and ensure alignment with current and future technology advancements. (VI) Develop strategic recommendations, advise Executive Management on technology priorities, and shape investment decisions for technology initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Experience:

(IV) - Six (6) years (four (4) years with a Professional Engineers (PE) license) in electric utility or power systems environment with three (3) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

(V) - Eight (8) years (six (6) years with a Professional Engineers license) in electric utility or power systems environment with seven (5) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

(VI) - Ten (10) years (eight (8) years with a Professional Engineers license) in electric utility or power systems environment with seven (7) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

Equivalent Experience:

(IV) - Ten (10) years in electric utility or power systems environment with ten (6) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

(V) - Twelve (12) years in electric utility or power systems environment with eight (8) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

(VI) - Fourteen (14) years in electric utility or power systems environment with ten (10) years experience in generation or transmission related functions utilizing analytical, computer, project management and/or financial skills.

Licenses/Certifications: Professional Engineer License desirable

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing computers, tools, and equipment uses, etc.): Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, presentation and negotiation skills. Must possess excellent organization and time management skills, technical/analytical and creative problem solving skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must have good computer knowledge and be competent with financial analysis. Must be self-motivated and able to think strategically.
